CURTAIN AND DRAPERY FIXTURE Application filed July 25,
This invention relates to improved fixtures and accessories for use in conjunction with conventional roller curtains and shades, draperies, panels and other window and door adorning equipment.
More specifically stated, the invention relates to a special ornamental article of hardware which, in its preferred embodiment, comprises a rosette or other suitably designed attaching and retaining bracket, and an orna mental pendant co-operating therewith and constituting a miniature handle or finger llP. b Other features and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the following description and drawing. In the drawing: F igure 1 is a front elevational view showing the manner in which the invention is applied to an ordinary window shade or ourtain.
Figure 2 is a sectional and elevational view of the parts of the device assembled.
Figure 8 is a front elevation of a slight modification of the invention.
Figure 4 is an edge elevation thereof. 7 Referring to the embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figure 1, it will be observed that the numeral 5 designates a conventional window shade. The attaching bracket 6 is fastened thereto by appropriate fasteners 7. Fundamentally this bracket comprises a plate having a central boss 8 recessed to provide a socket. The plate is appropriately fashioned as a matter of designto provide the requisite or desired degree of ornamentality.
In the drawing I have shown a rosette or flower represented but this might well be the representation of an animal, bird, or the like.
Another fundamental feature of the plate is that it has at its bottom a clearance slot 9,
said slot being provided to accommodate the restricted or reduced shank 10 of thependant 11. The pendant is also ornamental and appropriately proportioned and provided with a ball joint head 12 located in the socket. The head is formed with a passage 13. The primary reason for this passage 13 is that the 59 pendant may be used alone, that is, apart 1932. Serial No. 624,554.
from the attaching bracket. In other words, in the case of sliding or drawer curtains such as are used indoor ways in the house, the pendant may be attached to the pull cords.
The style ofthe pendant shown in Figures 3 and sand denoted by the numeral 14 is in the form of a tapered or wedge-shaped plate having a restricted shank 15 and a ball head 16 provided with an aperture 17 The lower end portion of the plate is fashioned with an oval shaped opening 18 thus rendering this particular pendant usable in connection with the attaching bracket 6. As a general rule, when using this style of pendant, the attaching bracket is fastened to the window frame so as to permit the pendant to serve as an anchor for the tie-back (not shown) of window draping panels, curtains, and the like.
The gist of the invention is in the provision of an ornamental socketed attaching bracket constructed for appropriate attachment to a window shade, window frame or the like and provided with a clearance slot to accommodate the pendant. The pendant is ornamental, being provided with or without the opening 18 and in each instance having restricted shank. cooperating with the clearance slot 9 to permit the requisite freedom of movement and-a ball head to provide the ball and socket joint between the pendant and the attaching bracket.
It is thought that the description taken in connection with the drawing will enable a clear understanding of the invention to be had. Therefore, a more lengthy description is thought unnecessary.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been shown and described, it is to be understood that minor changes coming within the field of invention claimed may be resorted to if desired.
I claim:
1. An ornamental fixture of the class described comprising an attaching bracket plate, provided with a recessed boss defining a retention socket, said plate having a radial clearance slot, an ornamental pendant having a restricted shank co-operating with said slot, and a ball-like head located for universal movement in said socket.
2. An ornamental fixture of the class described comprising an attaching bracket plate, provided with a recessed boss defining a retention socket, said plate having a radial clearance slot, an ornamental pendant having a restricted shank co-operating with said slot, and a ball-like head located for universal movement in said socket, said head having a passage formed therein for the purpose described.
3. An ornamental fixture of the class described comprising an attaching bracket plate, provided with a recessed boss defining a retention socket, said plate having a radial clearance slot, an ornamental pendant having a restricted shank co-operating with said slot, and a ball-like head located for universal movement in said socket, said head having a passage formed therein for the pur pose described, and said pendant being further formed with a slot to define a passage to accommodate a lo0p-1ike tie back for window drapery.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CLARABELLE E. RUNDEL.
