Description

MAS SAGE IMPLEMENT Filed March 29, 1930 ?atented May 9, 1933 UNITED SAES HEINRICI-I REICHL, OF GUNZENHAUSEN, GERMANY IvIASSAG-E IMPLEMENT Application filed March 29, 1930, Serial No. 440398, and in Germany March 15, 1929.
My present invention relates to a massage implement which has for its purpose to increase (m the one hand the massagim* action upon the surface to be treated an( to enable on the other hand, that the places of the body which may be reached with difficulty in using the known implements can be thoroughly treated under efiective action.
Hitherto such massage impiements, especially for the treatment of the back, have already been known, which support the massage tools at a curved direeting handle. According to my invention the massage rollers are formed in the shape of eg s and their supports are constructed eccentricaily in such a manner, that the roiiers execute a pushing motion in a plane through their turning aXis and perpendicular to the surface to be treated.
The acconpanying drawing shows by way of example my present invention, in which Fg. 1 is a perspective View, Fg. 2 is a front View partly in longitudinal section through one of the massage rollers, Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line A-A of the Fg. 2.
As the drawing illustrates the massage implement consists of the directing handle 1 being curved in hook-shape and two massage roilers 2 having the form of eggs, which are fuicrumed on a cross-iever 3 supported at the end of the hook-shaped directing handle 1 and adapted to form arms projectiug horizontally on both sides. Each massage roller 2 is provided with a centric bore %L extending throughout the interior, which is covered on both outer sides by dsks 5. Said disks are also provided with a bore 0 but of smaller diameter than the bore 4 so that inwardly projecting edges 7 are formed, which are shaped 011 a wave line, so that elevatons and depressions are created, by means of which each massage roller is supported eccentricaliy upon the cross-lover 3. By this arrangement the massage rollers execute round their turning axis a pushing motion, whereby the massage roliers are moved in accordance with the elevations and depressions of waves upon the cross-lever 3 and the massaging action is considerably increased when the massage rollers are moved over the surface to be treated. The distance of the pushing motion is limited by the inner edges of the uniformly shaped disks 5 on both front sides of each roller. The massage rollers are secured in their position by disks 8 fixed at both out-er ends of the cross-iever 3. The directing handle consists of a straight part la and a curved one lb which are detachably connected with each other.
hat I claim is:
A massage impiement consisting of a long directing handle, a cross level' connected at its mici-point to one end of said handle and at right-angles thereto, said cross lever forming projeeting arms, a pair of massage rollers rotatabiy mounted on said arms, centric hores in said rollers, disks fastened to the roilers and coverng the outer ends of said heres, bores in said disks smaller than the roller hores but substantially larger' than the projecting arms in diameter, inwardly projecting edges shaped on a Wave line and provided ou the iuner rim of the bor-es in said disks, disks fixed on the cross lever and adapted to secure the massage rollers against aXial movement.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
` HEINRICH REIGHL.
