My invention'relatesi to templates for use in installing, plumbing. An object of the invention in general is to pro'videfa device in the p nature of a gauge or guide *which'is rigidly secured in place for subsequent enclosure within a wall structureor pipe space, the device being so constructed that the'loose end of. a pipe may be firmly held in the proper position thereby, and a stub being removably attached to s aid'pipe end so as to extend out through the wall structure and form a hole therein as the wall is being built,. the stub being removed after the wall is-completed and then .beingreplaced by the desired pipe connection'for' the'pipe which has been enclosed within the wall. While adapted for making pipe connections in general with pipe sections which have been enclosed in a builtup wall, a particular object of my invention is I to provide a device by means of which either Q, havlng means for securlng 1t rlgidly 1n horizontal position to a vent pipe or other vertical pipe and also having means for securing thereto, the loose end or ends of one or more pipes to be connected with the bowl or other 1135 article with which a pipe connection is to be made and in providing a stub or stubs adapted to be removably attached to said pipe end or ends so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built and the stub or stubs when removed providing P p positioned holes for conveniently making connection with the pipe or ipes enclosed within the wall which has been built up around the template,
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description thereof, and the novel features of my inventive idea will be particularly pointed out in the claims.

practical embodiment of my invenvice. Fig. 8 is a view in section on the line of Fig. 2 and in addition showing the device embodied in a. wall structure. Fig. 4 is a view in'se'ction on the line l4 of Fig. 2 and in addition showing the device embodied in a wall structure.
As shown in the drawing, I provide a bar of angle iron having two members or flanges .10 and 12 disposed at right angles to each other. lVhen the device is installed, the flange 10 is horizontally disposed and the flange 12 is vertically disposed. The flange 10 is cut out to form a circular recess 1A: which in the form shown is located at the middle of the bar and is substantially in the'form of a semi-circle. "Near one of its ends, the flange 10 is provided with a plurality of holes 16 which are shown-as three in number, In certain forms of construction, the flange 10 near its other end is provided with a plurality of holes 18 which are shown as three in number. The recess 14 is of such size as to receive a yent pipe or similar pipe'20 which forms parto-f the ermanent installation. The flange 12 is secured to the pipe; 20 at the proper place along the length thereof by a U-bolt 22 which partly encircles the pipe 20 and the ends of which after passing through holes in ,the flange 12, are pioyided with nuts The upper end of a pipe 26 which may be a hotwa-ter pipe is'passed through the suitable one of thdholes 16 and then a head member 28 is screwed on this upper "end. -,The head 28 has extending out therefrom aninternally threaded nipple 30 adapted to receive the externally threaded end of a stub 32. The upper end .of a pipe 34 which may be a cold water pipe is, in the form of invention shown herein, passed through thesuita'ble one of the holes 18 and then a head member 36 is screwed on this upper end. The head 36 has extending :out therefrom an internally threaded nipple 38 adapted :to' receive the externally threaded endtof-a stub .40. v I v The operation and advantages of the. i11
nections.
vention will be understood in connection with the foregoing description. In installing the device, the template or supporting bar is secured to the pipe with the upper end of the pipe 26 passing through one of the holes 16 and the upper end of the pipe 34 passing through a hole such as one of the holes 18. The head members28 and 36 are then applied to the upper ends of the pipes 26 and 34 respectively, being so positioned that the nipples and 38 and the stubs 32 and 40 carried thereby respectively will extend out in the proper direction for subsequent attachment of the hot and cold water pipe connections. The wall structure W is then built up. After this wall structure has dried, the stubs 32 and 40 are removed and replaced by the ends of the desired pipe con- On account of the plurality of holes in the template bar, the pipe section to be attached to the bowl or other article may be held rigidly in proper position while the wall is being built around this pipe section, and if desired, two pipe sections, one for hot water and one for cold water, may be held in place at the same end of the template.
I claim:
1. s A template for use in installing plumbing comprising a support, means for securing said support rigidly in place for subsequent enclosure within a wall structure, means for securing the loose end of a pipe to said support, and a stub adapted to be removably attached to said pipe end so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built, said stub when removed being replaceable by a pipe connection through the hole formed in the wall by the stub.
2. A template for use in installing plumbing comprising a support, means for securlng said support rigidly to a pipe such as a vent pipe for subsequent enclosure within a wall structure, means for securing the loose end of a pipe to said support, and a stub adapted to beremovably attached to said pipe end so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built, said stub when removed being replaceable by a pipe connection through the hole formed in the wall by the stub.
3. A template for use in installing plumbing comprising a bar, means for securing said bar rigidly to a pipe such as a vent pipe for subsequent enclosure within a wall structure, said bar having a plurality of holes by means of which the loose end of a pipe may be held in proper position, and a stub adapted to be removably attached to said pipe end so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built, said stub when removed being replaceable by a pipe connection thrgugh the hole formed in the wall by the stu 4. Atemplate for use in installing plumbing comprising an angle bar having horizontal and vertical members, means for securing the vertical member to a pipe such as a vent pipe for subsequent enclosure within a wall structure, the horizontal member having a plurality of holes by means of which the loose end of a pipe may be held in proper position, and a stub adapted to be removably attached to said pipe end so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built, said stub when removed being replaceable by a pipe connection through the hole formed in the wall by the stub.
5. A template for use in installing plumbing comprising an angle bar having horizontal and vertical members, a U-bolt for securing the vertical member to a pipe such as a vent pipe for subsequent enclosure within a wall structure, the horizontal member having a plurality of holes near both of its ends by means of which the loose ends of hot water and cold water pipes respectively may be held in proper position, and stubs adapted to be removably attached to said pipe ends so as to extend out through the wall structure as the latter is built, said stubs when removed being replaceable by pipe connections through the holes formed in the wall by the stubs respectively.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afi'ix my signature.
