My invention relates to improvements in brackets, and particularly to improvements in combinationbrackets for supporting win dow drapery and the like. 7
It is an important object of the invention to provide a unitary combination bracket which is capable of supporting a plurality of drapery supporting means, the construction of the bracket being such that it is neat, compact and is capable of being made and distributed at low cost.
These and other objects of the invention, its nature, and its composition and arrangement and combination of parts will be readily understood by anyone acquainted with the art to which this invention relates upon consulting the following description of the drawings, wherein for purposes of illustration I have shown a preferred embodiment of the invention.
" ly refers to a left hand bracket and the numeral 6 generally designates a right hand bracket, of a pair of brackets adapted according to the principles of my invention to be installed in a window frame in a manner to carry a shade roller, a curtain rod, and a portiere rod.
It will be observed that each of the brackets 5, 6, is composed of a generally rectangular plate 7 which has its marginal portions curvately turned over as indicated at 8 so that when the bracket is placed against the supporting surface to which it is to be attached, the plate will be spaced therefrom through the agency of the edge formation. The plate has depending from its lower 1932. Serla1No.i609,1 99.
right corner portion an extension 9 whosev outer edge 10 is curvedly directed to conform with the curved edge of the plate 7 Its lower edge 11 is likewise similarly treated. The v inward edge 12, however, is notcurved in 55 this manner, but is plane and provided with a right angularly directed ear 13 which constitutes the shade roller support of the bracket 5. This shade roller support 13 is pro- 1. vided with the opening 14 for receiving the nonrotatable pintle on the one end of the shade roller. Extending in an opposite direction and in a plane at right anglesto the shade roller support 13 fromthe lower eX- tremity of the edge portion 11 is a triangu- '65 lar projection 15 which is adapted to engage the supporting surface and to indent the same for securing the bracket in position thereon. v I r The right hand side of the plate 7 is provided with an attaching means opening 16' to receive a screw or bolt or the like for mounting the plate to the support. 1T0 the left of the opening 16 is a pair of horizontally aligned vertically'disposed openings 17, 18 created by punching out tabs 19, 20 which have triangular ends as'showm'the end portions 21, 22 being upwardly directed at right 'angles'for a purpose to be. described. 1 Below each of the openings 17, 18 Iare smaller transversely elongated openings23, 24 resulting from punching out short projections 25, 26 which project atright angles to theplate 7 fora purpose to be described. 1 p The construction of the bracket 6 and its plate 27 is identical with the construction of the bracket 5 and its plate 7 except for the fact that the depending extension 28 is opposite in position from the depending extension 9, and the-openings 17 a and 18a are disposed on the opposite side of the plate from the position of the openingslS, 18 in .theiplate 7. This condition results in the positioning of the members 21a and 22a on the opposite side of the plate from the position of the elements 21, 22 occupied onthe plate 7. A corresponding change in the position of the projections a and 26a correspondingto the projections 25 and 26 of the plate 7 is also to be noted,
the car 13' is the ear 13a which instead of 'having an opening corresponding to the opening 14 ofthe ear 13 has simply a hole 29. The depending portion 28 has a pointed member projecting to the rear thereof indicated by the numeral 15a corresponding to.
the pointed member 150m the bracket 5.
The brackets are adapted to be secured to the face of the window frame at the desired heightand in horizontal alignment in an ob vious manner. In this position the ears 13 and 130 are adapted to carry a shade roller, not shown, while vertically paired projections 21,25 and 22, 26on the bracket 5, and vertically aligned projections 22a and 26a and 21a, a on the bracket 6 are adapted to receive and supportan adjustable rod generally indicated by the numeral 30 which has end portions indicated at 31 which are curved so as to present at right angles to the bar of rod 30 attaching portions 32. .The bars or rods may be of round or of square or of any desired shape and formed 7 in tubular manner with the curvate portion 31 flattened so as to be capable of taking a proper curvature. As indicated at 32 in Figure 1 the attaching portion 32 is open at one side, that is, the inward side, so as to enable it to be passed upon any verticaly aligned pair of the projections mentioned in the manner shown in Figures land 2, the upper projections being receivablein an opening 33 in the upper'wall of the attaching portion 32. The same mode site side of the plate, and shade roller mounta ing means on the plate vertically alined with the securing means, said shaderoller mounting means being located below the curtain rod attaching means and laterally ofiset with respect thereto.
2. A combination bracket comprlsing a a plate adapted to be secured to a vertical sur-' face, curtain rod attaching means onrthat side of the plate nearest the position of the curtain, plate attaching means at the opposite side of the plate, and shade roller mounting means on the plate vertically alined with the securing means, said shade roller mount-.
ing means being located below the, curtain rod attaching means and laterally offset with respect thereto, a reduced portion depending from the loweredge of the plate for carrying said shade roller'mounting; In testiinonywhereof I afiix my signature.

of attachmentis used with corresponding pairs of the projections on each'bracket. In this way a portiere supporting rod and a curtain supporting rod or a similar diversity of' drapery supporting rods may be simultaneously employed with the shade roller window shade, all of these being carried in convenient and attractive relationship on the one bracket in a secure, neat, and strong manner.
' i It is obvious that the brackets of my invention can'be formed from a single blank of material and stamped with one operation. This provides a method of operation which is highly economical of material and is very cheap and eifective.
' Though I have shown and described herein a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be'definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application of the invention thereto, and any change or changes may be made in materialand structure and arrangement of parts, within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the subjoined claims.
