My invention aims to provide improvements in pin fasteners particularly adapted for use in connection with the attachment of slip covers.
In the drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention:

Fig. 4 is a section through an installation showing the pin in attached position.
The particular pin selected for illustration f is of the campaign button type but having a hinged plate whereby attachment and detachment of the pin is made easier. I am aware of the fact that hinged pins of the general type shown are not new to me and therefore I shall describe and claim only that which I consider my contribution to the pin fastener art.
My improved pin fastener comprises an attaching part A and a plate part B. The attaching part A is formed from a single piece of wire bent to provide a pair of spaced parallel legs 1-1 pointed at the llower ends and joined together at the upper ends by a connecting portion, as best shown in Fig. 2. The connecting portion is bent to provide Shoulders 2-2 adjacent the legs 1-1 and a U-shaped loop 3 between the shoulders.
Any suitably shaped plate part B may be provided and it is preferably formed from Sheet metal. At the upper edge of the plate B and at the rear side I have provided a hinge portion 4 integral with the plate and engaged with the loop 3 thereby pivoting the plate for movement relative to the attaching part A. At the lower edge and behind the plate, I have provided two stabbing prongs 5-5 spaced from each other and located in such a manner as to be in alignment with the shoulders 2-2. These prongs 5-5 are bent to extend from the lower edge of the plate B upwardly behind it and then outwardly in a generally curved manner, as best shown in Fig. 3. The outwardly extending portions are yieldable and so shaped that a detent 6 is provided in each so that as the prongs pass either under the shoulders 2 2 or over (as illustrated), the shoulders engage in the detents 66. In this manner the plate part B is held in locked relation `to the attaching part A.

kMy, improved pin fastener is simple and easy to assemble. It has but a single hinge and yet it has two Stabbing prongs for engagement with the material of the installation and two locking features, thus providing double the holding power of a single pronged device.
Vhile I have illustrated and described a preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to be limited thereby, because the scope of my invention vis best defined by the following claims.
I claim:
1. A pin fastener comprising, in combination, an attaching part having a pair of spaced sharp pointed legs, a cross-bar connecting said legs at one end, a plate part, a single hinged connection between said plate part and said cross-bar, a stabbing prong at each side of the hinged connection extending rearwardly from said plate between said legs and locking means provided partly by said stabbing prongs and partly by said cross-bar to hold said plate part in one position relative to said attaching part.
2. A pin fastener comprising, in combination, an attaching part having a pair of spaced sharp pointed legs, a cross-bar connecting said legs at one end, a plate part, a single hinged connection between said plate part and said cross-bar, a Stabbing prong at each side of the hinged connection extending rearwardly from said plate between said legs and locking means provided partly by said stabbing prongs and partly by said cross-bar to hold said plate part in one position relative to said attaching part, said cross-bar being formed into two shoulders each adjacent to a pointed leg and a loop between said shoulderssaid hinged connection comprisinga hinge portion on said plate part engaging said loop to pivot the plate part and said stabbing prongs being adapted to engage said shoulders for the purposes described.
3. A pin fastener comprising, in combination, an attaching partformed from a single piece of wire bent to provide two spaced sharp pointed legs, a cross-bar connecting said legs at one end, two shoulders each extending at right angles from one leg of the attaching part, a U-shaped loop formed in said crossbar between said shoulders, a plate part formed from a single piece of metal and havingconcealed at the under side a. hinge portion engaging said loop to pivot the plate to the attaching part and two yieldable stabbing prongs extending away from thev plate and adapted to enter the material to which the pin is to `beV attached and said stabbing prongs having detent means engaging said shoulders to lock the plate in position when said stabbing prongs are in operating position.
