The invention relates to stamps having label holders and has for an object to provide a method of conveniently and securely attaching the label holder to the stamp.

Another object of the invention is to provide a stamp to which the label holder is irmly secured without tacks, nails, or similar means.

A further ob] ect of the invention is to provide a rubberized cloth strip which is disposed between the label holder and the stamp and is vulcanized thereto.

Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which l5 the preferred form of the invention is described.

Figure 3 is a sectional view showing the rubberized strip cemented and subsequently vulcanized to the label holder, with a label disposed in the label holder.

By referring to the drawing it will be seen 30 that the stamp 5 is of the usual construction, with the body 6 of the stamp constructed of wood, metal or other material. In the construction illustrated in the drawing, a metal casing 7 is provided for the body 6 of the stamp 5, this metal casing 7 having a portion 8 extending at the top of the body 6, with depending portions 9 disposed at the front and back of the body, and with flanges 10 turned inwardly and upwardly, these flanges 10 being disposed in channels 11 in a rubber member 12 at the outer lower face of which project portions 13 which are cut or molded to form letters, or other insignia, which v are to be impressed on paper and other artic-les after the projecting portions 13 have been inked.

A label holder 14 is secured to the front depending portion 9 in a manner which will now be described. A rubberized strip of cloth 15 is disposed between the label holder Serial No. 633,870.

14 and the front depending portion 9 of the casing 7 and this rubberized strip of cloth 15 is cemented to the rear of the label holder 14 and to the outer face of the front depending portion 9. Subsequently the parts are vulcanized so that the label holder 14 and the front depending portion 9 of the casing 7 will be vulcanized to the rubberized cloth strip 15 for firmly securing the label holder 14 to the casing 7 without the use of 60 tacks or nails and in such a manner that the label holder 14 will be held firmly to the casing 7 without danger that it may become displaced therefrom. The label holder 14 has its upper and lower portions 16 bent outward- 65 ly and parallel with the back of the label holder 14 to form a channel in which a label 17 may be slid.

The invention not only includes a rubber stamp with the label holder attached in the manner set forth, but the invention also includes the method of securing the label holder to the stamp.

The cement which is preferably used to secure the rubberized strip of cloth to the label holder 14 and to the stamp prior to the vulcanization of the parts is vulcalock.

Vhat is claimed is:

As a new article of manufacture, a rubber stamp, a metal casing on body of the stamp, a metal label holder at one side of the metal casing, and a rubberized strip of cloth interposed between the casing and label holder and vulcanized to both.
