IMPROVEMENT IN FAN ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 189,523, dated April 10, 1877; application filed February 12, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, KNUD THOMPSON and LABS G. BERGSTROM, of Norwalk, in the county of Huron and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Fan Attachment for RockingGhairs; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
Our invention consists in providing a rocking chair with an automatic-acting fan. Our invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, as follows:
Figure 1 is a side view of a rocking-chair with our device attached. Fig. 2 is a front view of the pendant and fan.
The construction of our device is as follows: A is a suspending-rod, and is detachably, if desired, attached to the back of the chair, and from thence reaches up and toward the front of the chair. B is a pendant, which attaches by a pin, 1), to the front and upper end of the rod. Both the pendant and the rod are provided with a series of holes, a a. a, by which the length of pendant below the rod and the distance of the pendant from the back of the chair can be regulated or adjusted. -r
At the lower end of the pendant is a fan, 0, which may be rigidly or flexibly attached to the pendant.
The pendant swings easily on the pin b, and the slightest vibration of the chair will cause a vibration of the pendant, or a motion to the fan. It is intended that the length of pendant shall be so adjusted as to allow the fan to swing at a proper distance from the occupant of the chair.
What we claim as our invention is- A fan attachment for rocking-chairs, having a rod, A, and pendant B, said parts being provided with holes a a a, and a pin, 1), by which the position of the fan can be regulated, substantially as set forth.
