IMPROVEMENT IN DISH-WARMERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 189,412, dated April 10,1877; application filed March 19, 1877.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES H. WRIGHT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dish-Warmer, of which the following is a an improved de ice for keeping platters and other dishes and their contents Warm after being placed upon the table, and which shall be so constructed as to keep the table from being injured by heat, and which shall be simple in construction, convenient in use, effective in operation, and neat and tasteful in appearance.
The invention consists in the combination of the inner case and the asbestus packing with the outer case or body and the iron heating-block, as hereinafter fully described.
A is the outer case or body of the device, which may be made of metal earthenware, wood, or other suitable material, and may be circular, oval, or of i any other desired shape to correspond with the shape of the dish or platter to beheld. The case A is supported upon a low perforated or open-work rim, 0, to form an air-chamber beneath it. B is the inner case, which is made smaller than the outer case A, so as to leave a chamber between the bottoms and sides of said cases. The space between the cases A B is packed with fibrous or powdered asbestus 0, either alone or mixed with some substance to keep it in place. The inner case B is made with an outwardly-projecting rim or flange, 11, extending to and fitting against the side of the outer case A, to cover the asbestus packing O. D is an iron block, made of such a shape and thickness as to fit into the cavity of the inner case B. The iron block D is provided with a hole, so that it may be taken out and put in with a handle similar to a stove-cover lifter. The bottom of the iron block 1) may be corrugated or recessed to form chamb for heated air, if desired.
In using the device, the iron blocl heated, and is then placed in the c the inner case B, and the platter or be kept warm is placed upon it. v
Having thus described my inventi as new and desire to secure t ne a The combination of the innercaseBand the asbestus packing O withfthe'xouter I or body A and the iron heating-block stantially as herein shown and described.
