IMPROVEMENT IN PROVISION-SAFES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 189,159, dated April 3, 1877 application filed September 16, 1876. l

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EZRA WEBB, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful I mprovement in Safe and Refrigerator for Windows, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 is a front view of my device shown as applied to a window. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same. Fig. 3 is a front view of the same, the doors being shown open.

The object of this invention is to furnish a device to be placed in a window when there may be a scarcity of closetroon1,t.o receive cooked and uncooked provisions, and which' shall be so constructed that it may serve also as a refrigerator.

The invention will first be described in connection with the drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.

A' is the safe, which has wire cloth in its front and back, so that the air may pass through it freely. Thel top of the safeA is made inclined, so that the rain may run oli' it freely. The frpnt of the safe A may be provided with a single door or with double doors, as may be desired.

The interior of the safe is divided into two unequal compartments by a partition, a. The larger compartment may be provided with shelves B, to receive the various articles to be kept, and may have hooks attached to its top to receive such articles as require to be hung up. In the bottom of the smaller compartment is placed a pan, C, in which may be placed a rack to receive ice, shelves being placed in the upper part of the said compartment.

If desired, a small refrigerator, E, may be i placed in thel smaller compartment, inthe upper part of which is placed the ice-chamber, and in the lower part of which may be placed articles that require to be kept cold.

The ice-chamber of the refrigerator E has a door, el, in its top opening upward, and a door, e2, in front opening outward, so that the ice can be conveniently put in and can be .A

' rests upon the window-ledge, andthe safe is secured in place by chains F, the outer ends of which are attached to the outer parts of the ends of the said safe, and theirinner ends are attachedto the window-frame. The safe will thus be securely held in place, and will not interfere with the raising and lowering of the window sashes.

The safe may be secured in the window by screws, bolts, or other fastenings, if desired.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A safe, A, provided with wire cloth in its front and rear, withy an inclined top, and with chains F, to adapt it to be applied to a window, substantially as herein shown and described.
