This invention relates to a memorandum pad holder and advertising device for desk telephones.
A primary object of the invention is to so construct an attachment of this character that it may be quickly and easily applied to thetelephone base and standard and which 7. when applied will not in any way disfigure' 10 the instrument and yet be in position for quick use when telephoning.
Another object of the invention is to so construct an attachment of this character 7 that While affording a maximum amount of i writing space will yet be so light in Weight as not to interfere in any way withthe use of the telephone. -Another object of the invention isto s construct a pad and its support that it may be positioned on the base and standard of the telephone instrument so that the party using the phone may have the receiver in his left hand and the pencil in his right over the. pad ready for making memorandums of the conversation.
In carrying out these objects, the invention is susceptible of a wide range of modification Witout departing from the spirit or sacriticing any of the advantages of the'claimed invention; there being shown in the drawing for illustrative purposes a preferred and practical form, in which:
Figure l is a perspect-ive view showing a telephone instrument equipped with thisimproved pad; and
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the pad detached; In the embodiment illustrated, a desk tele phone of usual construction is shown'having the base 15 and standard S onwhichthe 40 combined advertising .device 1. is designed to be mounted. V
This attachment comprises a plate 2 composed of celluloid'carel board or some similar light material shaped to conform to the shape of the base B having a central opening 3 to encircle the standard with an entrance slit 4 leading therefrom prefera ly at oblique angle, said slit- 4 terminating in a a smaller opening 5 designed to surround the cord C in 5 which the conducting wires are housed.
Leading from the opening 5 through theedge be used 7 for advertisingland th ma be secured -to' the plate'2 by any-suitable means being-here shown connected by ,staples'lO'along' the edge adjacent the advera' and pad holder offthelplate 2 isianother slit '6 'which 'is pref; erahly extendedin a dir'ec-tion opposite tothe F I re the plateQha Vinga firmer grip on the standard I Onehalf, more or less of 'th j.-'plate"2 ma e portionhere shown for; this purpose is numbered; 7 while the remainder thereof formsa'supp'ort for a pad on calendar pad 8. f i This pad Smayb'eof anyldesi red form and has a central opening registering with the openin 3,0'f the platen and it also has a slot 9 formed therein regijse tering with the slit 4 insaid-plate. This pad tising portion of the holder.
It will thus he seenthat this-attachment may be very cheaply manufactured and easily applied to and removed. from a 'tele phone instrument, and when applied-Will not interfere in any way with the use of the telephone which may be readilylifted from place to place as the pad weighs only about twoounces. v
Without further description it is thought that the features and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and it wilhof course, be
understoodthat changes in the form, proportionand minor details of construction may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention or its scope as, claimed.
I claim:
