rlhis invention relates to improvements in visible filing devices and has for one of its objects to provide an improved device of the class described especially adapted for use as a production planning board, wherein a plurality of production planning cards may be file d with portions thereof visible at all times.

Referring more particularly to Figure 1, the card-holding members adapted to be received in the grooves 12 each include .an elon- '70 gated body 15 of thin, flexible material, the upper edge of which is providedwith a series of spaced'and downwardly turned lugs 16 between which and the body 15 the edge of a card 17 is adapted to be received and secured 75 by: frictional engagement. In using the device, the bodies 15, with cards attached thereto, may be suitably positioned within the frame by engagement of their flanges 2O in the grooves 12, the cards then lying in superposed and stepped positions behind the holder members, as shown in Figure 2. Il] hen it is desired to remove one or" the cards 17, the body 15 of its holder may be flexed outwardly and removed from the frame, carrying its card therewith. A blank card or an empty holder may be readily positioned in place of the removed body, thus indicating the withdrawal of one of the cards from the ile; or, if desired, a card 17 may be released from its lugs 16 by pulling it downwardly therefrom and subsequently removing it from the tile, leaving its holder blank to indicate the removal of the card. Also, a holder and its card may be entirely removed and those holders and cards above the same allowed to slide downwardly so that no intermediate empty spaces will be apparent,

If desired, suitable indicia may be provided upon the iront face of each body 15, whereby the absence of its card will disclose the indicia Jfor calling attention to the missing card.

F rom the foregoing it will readily be seen that the invention provides for a simple, economical filing struct-ure including a frame and card-holding members slidably and removably associated therewith. Also, the sliding feature of the cards, when placed into the frame, permits the exposure of any card placed in the file to its Afull size Without the removal of the card from its prearranged position in the lile. rlhis permits the recording of information upon a card without its removal from the rile.

What is claimed is:

1. In a iiling device, a frame having grooves therein, and flexible card-carrying members Aremovably and slidably positioned within saidgrooves, said members veach including lugs between which and the member a card is adapted to be rictionally held.

2. In a tiling device, a frame having grooves therein, flexible card-carrying members removably and slidably positioned within said grooves, said members including projecting ears adapted to cooperate with similar ears on adjacent members for supporting each of said members upon the next lower member, and iianges on said members receivable within said grooves.`

3. A visible iile, comprising a body including side flanges having grooves therein, and top and bottom members both mounted in and removable from said grooves and each having a portion, edges of which are insert-able into said grooves so that said members form closures for the ends of said frame.
