Description
J. PYKOSZ SMOKE CONSUMER Oct. 25, 1932.
Filed Dec. 11. 1929 Patented Oct. 25, 1932 UNITED STATES JOHN PYKOSZ, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS SMOKE CONSUMER Application filed December 11, 1929'. Serial No. 413,324.
The invention consists in the combinations or arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of, this specification, and in which Fig. 1 is a vertical, longitudinal section of still another form of coal heating stove, equipped with smoke consuming means embodying the invention, and
Fig. 2, a horizontal section taken substantially on line 22 of Fig. 1, with'portions broken away, and others shown in top plan.
The form of construction illustrated in the drawing comprises a combustion chamber 34, having a fire chamber or pot in its lower portion, and 'a draft flue 36 leading from the upper rear portion thereof. Arranged diag: onally across the upper rear portion of the combustion chamber 34 is a plurality of adjacent, curved, vertical heating lates 37, providing narrow passageways Arranged in these passageways is a plurality of cleanings bars 38 pivotally mounted at their upper rear ends on a pivot rod 39, and connected at their lower forward ends with an operating rod 40. The operating rod 40 is connected with an operating cable 41 leading over guide pulleys 42 to the exterior of the combustion chamber 34, as shown. By this arrangement, the products of combustion will be forced to pass through narrow, elongated, heated passageways, and the combustion thereof thus rendered complete so as to prevent the escape or emission of smoke. By manipulating the cleaning bars 38, through etween them.
the medium of the cable 41, the passageways between the plates 37 may be readily cleaned, should soot or ashes collect therein.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred forms of construction for carrying the invention into effect, these are capable of variation or modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details disclosed but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. The combination with means of combustion, of combustion promoting means arranged to be heated thereby and provided with a plurality of elongated heated passageways for the products of combustion; and means for cleaning said passageways.
2. The combination with means of combustion, of combustion promoting means arranged to be heated thereby, said combustion promoting means comprising a plurality of spaced metallic plates, providing elongated passageways between them for the products of combustion; and means for cleaning said passageways.
3. In combination, a combustion chamber having a draft flue leading from the upper rear portion thereof; and a plurality of combustion plates arranged in spaced relation diagonally across the upper rear portion, of said chamber with elongated combustion spaces between them.
4. In combination, a combustion chamber having a draft flue leading from the upper rear portion thereof; a plurality of combustion plates arranged in spaced relation diagonally across the upper rear portion of said chamber with elongated combustion spaces between them; a plurality of swinging cleaning bars arranged to operate in the spaces between said plates; and means for manipulating said bars from the outside of said combustion chamber.
In witness that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I aflix my signature this 6th day of December, 1929.
I JOHN PYKOSZ.
