` STAND FOR THE DISPLAYv 0F GOODS Filed sept. 22, 195o it: l
PatentedV Sept. 20, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT oFFlcE VJOIE-ZANN EHRLICH, OF vVII.1\`I'NA, AUSTRIA.
STAND non THE DISPLAY or GooDs Application measeptember 22, 1930, seriai No. 483,695, and in Austria october a, 1929.
Y ilar devices carrying the goods are clamped between two rings each movable along a post. The post is provided for its whole length with screw thread and the clamping rings are formed into screw nuts so as to move up and down along the post when turned. These display stands are suffering under the drawback that the costs of production are high and that the operation of displacing the clamping rings is complicated and takes much time, j
According tothe present invention these disadvantages are eliminated by providing the post only at its upper and lower end with screw threads, leaving it smooth Vfor nearly the whole length and by employing a spring for pressing together the clamping rings, which are loosely displaceable on the post,
the pressure of this spring being easily over` come whenever two neighbouring rings are to be moved asunder 'fory taking up an object to be clamped in between.
An embodiment of this invention is illustrated by way of example inthe accompanyf ing drawing which gives a side view and,` in part, an axial section.
The stand consists of a smooth post 2 which at its bottom end is screwed into a foot plate l, the post being provided with a screw thread above and below. A cap 3 can be'screwed on the top end. The smooth post carries loosely displaceable rings 4, the bottom one of which is in contact with a tube piece 5 that is displaceable in a wider tube piece 6 resting on the foot plate l. IVithin the two tube pieces 5, 6 there is a helical spring 7 which presses the tubular piece 5 upwards so that the displaceable rings lying one above the other are elastically supported by the On one oftheir borders the rings 4 spring. are provided with annular recesses 8 which permit the introduction of the short arms 9 lying on each other of a tong-like tool acting in the manner of a glove extender. By compressing the long arms l0 of kthis tool the pressure of the spring 7 is overcome and the neighbouring rings are moved asunder. Into the free space formed between the rings in this manner, a plate 11, al hook 12 or any other object may be introduced. If, then, the hand ,ceases to press on the long arms 10 of the tool, the spring 7 begins to act so that the rings will fix in its position the object introduced;
Having now particularly described and ascertained the .nature of'my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I' claim is:
l. A display stand comprising a base, a rod Supportedby said base, a xed cap upon the upper end of said rod, a plurality of clamping rings slidably-mounted upon said rod between said cap and said base, resilient means cooperating with said base urging said clamp- Y ing rings against said cap and detachable display .supporting elements supported between adjacent clamping rings.
2. A display stand comprising a base, a rod supported by said base, a cap fixed uponl the upper end of said rod, a plurality of clamping rings loosely displaceable upon said rod, a spring cooperating with said base urging said rings against said cap and detachable display supporting elements supported between adjacent rings.
- 3. A display stand comprising a base,arodr lsupported by said base, a xed'abutment upon said: rod, a plurality of clamping rings slidably mounted upon said rod between saidv abutment and said base, a telescoping housing positioned uponsaid rod between said rings and said base and resilient means in said housing tending to expand the saine` and to urge said rings against said abutment.
4. A display stand comprising a base, a rod supported by said base, a fixed abutment upon said rod, a plurality of clamping rings slidably mounted upon said rod between-said Y abutment and `said base, said rings beingprovided vwith recesses to permit the introduction of a tool for separating adjacent rings apart, resilient means urging saidfclamping'li Y rings together and detachable display ysupporting elements supported between adjacentclamping rings. j l
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature. Y
' JN EHRLICH.
