The present invention relates to a device for moistening ribbon such as are used on typewriters, adding machines and the like and has for its prime object to provide a device of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, thoroughly efficient and reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

A spring 20 on the pin 16 urges the clamp 17 to a place on the foot 19 against the wick. Spring 20 has a downwardly extending part spool and then a portion serted between the wick and the foot 19 with the foot 19 at the rear and the extension 12 at the front. Then the ribbon is wound on the other spool thereby passing between the wick and the pressure foot to be properly moistened. In the bottom 5 there is an opening in which is a screw plug for replenishing the supply of oil or the like in the container.

In an ink applicator for typewriter ribbons, an elongated container having an end through said opening and flatly contacting with said back wall, said back wall being provided with a continuation in the plane of the back wall and constituting a backing for the wick, and a clamp pivoted to one side of the container and having an offset intermediate end portion overhanging said wall and defining a contact foot flatly contacting with said wick and normally disposed in approximately spaced parallel relation to said back wall, a spring urging said foot into contact with said wick, said, clamp being. provided with a depending extension constituting a finger engaging element.
