l; f T [e method 4of yforming the sound repro- A'ducing' diaphragm "interlocked with the yarmature tube has been found to be extremely practica-l and desirable in construction, and while I have described one of t-he preferred embodiments of my invention, I desire that it be understood that modifications may be made and that no limitations upon my invention are intended other than are imposed by the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States Ais as follows:
l. In a sound reproducer, a conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm, a cylindrical supporting member carrying a winding, said cylindrical supporting member having an annular grove formed therein, and a resilient suspension member conforming to the contour of said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm and providing an anchoring means for locking said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm within said groove and said cylindrical support.
2. In a sound reproducer, a sound re ro- `ducing diaphragm substantially in the orm ofa frustum of a cone, a cylindrical coil support having an annular groove formed therein, a resilient suspension member embracing said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm and having a portion thereof extending parallel to the surface of said soundreproducing diaphragm and protruding into said annular groove in said cylindrical coil support for anchoring said conical shaped diaphragm with respect to said cylindrical coil support.

In a sound reproducer, a sound reproducing diaphragm substantially in the form of a frustiun of a cone, a cylindrical coil .support projecting through one end of said sound reproducing diaphragm having an annular groove formed therein for receiving Ythe annular extremity of said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm, a suspension member embracing said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm andfproviding a sealing means for the extremity of said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm within .said annular groove for establishing a rigid connection between said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm and said cylindrical coil support.
4. A sound reproducer comprising a sound reproducing diaphragm substantially in the form of a` frustum of a cone, a cylindrical coil support projecting through one end of said sound reproducing diaphragm, said cylindrical coil support having an annular groove adjacent one end thereof, one side of said groove forming an abutment for the edge of said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm, and the other Wall of said groove conforming to the pitch of said sound reproducing diaphragm, and suspension means embracing said diaphragm in a position intermediate the peripheral edges thereof, said suspension means extending into the annular groove on said cylindrical coil support and providing means for locking said diaphragm within said groove.

In a sound reproducer, a sound reproducing diaphragm substantially in the form of a frustum of a cone, a cylindrical coil support extending through one end of said dia.- phragm and having an annular groove formed in the surface thereof, one end of said groove providing an abutment for the peripheral edge of said diaphragm, and the other end of said groove being shaped to conform to the pitch of said diaphragm,and a suspension member embracing said diaphragm and conforming to the shape thereof, said means abutting against one wall of said groove and uniting said diaphragm with said cylindrical coil support.
6. In a sound reproducer, a sound reproducin diaphragm substantially in the form of a rustum of a cone, a coil support projecting through one end of said diaphragm, said coil support having a flange formed thereon providing an abutment with the edge of said diaphragm, and a suspension memmediately adjacent the surface of said dia` phragm for unit-ing said diaphragm with respect to said coil support.
7. In a sound reproducer, a sound reproducing diaphragm substantially in the form of a frustum of a cone having an annular extremity, a cylindrical coil support projecting through one end of said sound reproducing diaphragm and receiving the annular extremity of said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm, a suspension member embracing said cylindrical coil support and also the conical extremity of said sound reproducing diaphragm next to said annular extremity, thereby establishing a rigid connection between said conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm and said cylindrical coil support.
8. In a sound reproducer, a conical shaped sound reproducing diaphragm, a cylindrical suporting member carrying a Winding and having an annular groove formed therein, n. resilient suspension member a portion of which conforms with the conical surface of said sound reproducing diaphragm, said member providing locking means whereby a portion of said sound reproducing diaphragm is anchored within said groove.
9. A coil mounting for cone speakers comprising a. cylindrical member adapted to be secured to the apex of a cone and sup ort a current-carrying winding, and a flat exible supporting member extending from said cylindrical portion adapted to engage fixed supports, said supporting .member being secured upon ksaid cylindrical portion intermediate the ends thereof by disposin it a ainst ak shoulder upon said cylindrica mem the projecting end of the cylindrical member flarmg outwardly against said flexible member opposite said shoulder. f
10. A support for the coil-carrying end of loud speaker cones comprising a cylindrical member adapted to be secured to the apex of the cone and support a ycurrent-c :arrying winding, a at flexible member roject-ing outwardly from the surface of said) cylindrical member, and means for securing said flexible member to said cylindrical member consisting of a shoulder formed u on said cylindrical member contacting witll one side of said flexible member, said cylindrical member flaring against said flexible member opposite said shoulder.
