IMPROVEMENT IN BEER-COOLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 187,2 I9, dated February 13, 1877; application filed August 10,1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, L. M. DAVIS, of Joplin, in the county of Jasper and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Beer-Coolers, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a combined water and beer cooler, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertaius to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which-- Figure 1 is a vertical section; Fig. 2, a horizontal section; and Fig. 3, an elevation of the interior cylinder B, with the spiral flange and breaks.
A represents a water-cooler of ordinary construction and of any desired dimensions. Within this cooler is placed a cylinder, B, of smaller diameter than the inside of the cooler, and around the exterior of said cylinder is secured a spiral flange, 0, running from top to bottom thereof. At the top the space between the cylinder and inside of cooler is closed by means of a flange or collar, D.
E is a pipe at the top, leading into the space between the cylinder and cooler, and G is the faucet at the bottom, from the same. H is the faucet from the inside of the cylinder B, passing through the side of the cooler.
The cylinder B is intended to contain ice and water, in the manner usual for water-coolers, the ice-water being drawn off, when required, through the faucet H. The pipe E is to be connected with the faucet of a beer-keg, so that the beer will pass into the cooler at the top and go around the cylinder B, along the spiral flange 0, become thoroughly cooled during its passage, and be drawn 0E through the faucet Gr.
At suitable intervals on the outside of the cylinder B are placed breakers I I, which prevent the beer from forming any one channel, but cause it to flow over the entire surface and become perfectly cool before it can escape.
It will be seen that the space or chamber that holds the beer can be made of such size as to hold one-fourth or one-half of a keg, so that in case twenty or tit'ty glasses have to be drawn out in rapid succession the last will be as cool as the first.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. The combination, with a water-cooler, A, of the cylinder B, with exterior spiral flange O and top flange D, the inlet-pipe E, and fancets G H, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The breakers I I, arranged on the outside of the cylinder B, in combination with the spiral flange (J and cooler A, sustantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
