The holder is adapted to retain one or more cards used in indexing, accounting, billing or to V an index or name strip, and

for any other purpose, and the holder may be grouped with many similar holders and mounted in a filing device, although the latter forms no part of the present invention.

" The material of the holder, being transparent, permits the reading matter on the card to be seen either from the front or back of the holder.

In addition, my improved device may be used as a single holder for holding one card, or it may be made to hold two cards, one on each side of the mainwall of the holder, and in each case the card or cards may be readily removed for the purpose of writing, printing, or otherwise adding reading matter to the card or cards. In addition to the principal card or cards the device in one form is adapted to hold a strip on which the name or names or other indexing material may be supplied separate from the main card or cards.

In addition, I have provided inone form of the invention transparent sliders adapted to oo-operate withthe index stripsfor indicat-' ing index numbers or other matter on the strips. Other features and advantages will be set forth in the following detailed description of my invention. g

Printing, writing or other matter may be placed upon either or both surfaces of the card 7. From'the above it will be apparent that the holders may be arranged like leaves in a book to be turned back and forth and the cards held in the holders will be readable from either i side. 7 Having described my invention, what I claim isr;

2. A card holder: comprising a sheet; of

transparent material folded uponits'elf? along one edge to form a pocketlbetweenitherfolded edge and the main portion of the sheet to receive the edge of a card therein, the opposite side of said sheet being folded upon itself to provide a second pocket between said lastmentioned folded portion and the main portion of the sheet to receive the opposite edges of saidcard and fastening members passing through said folded portions of the sheet.

3. A card holder comprising a sheet having one edge portion bent back and forth upon itself to form portions overlapping the main portion of the sheet on both surfaces of the latter to form a plurality of pockets on opposite sides of the main portion of the sheet to receive therein the edges of cards disposed on opposite sides of the main portion of the sheet, and means adjacent the opposite edge of said sheet to engage the opposite edges of both of said cards.

4. A card holder comprising a sheet having one edge portion folded over said sheet to form a loop and to form a strip overlapping the main ortion of the sheet to provide a pocket for the reception of the edge of a card, a hinge member passing through said loop, said edge being folded back upon itself and upon the opposite side of the main portion of the sheet to form a second pocket for the reception of the edge of a card disposed on the opposite side of the main portion of the sheet to said first card, and means at the opposite edge of said sheet for engaging the opposite edges of both of said cards.

5. A card holder comprising a sheet having one edge thereof bent back and forth upon itself and upon the main portion of the sheet to provide pockets for the reception of the edges of cards disposed on opposite sides of the main portion of the sheet, the opposite edge of said sheet being folded back and forth upon itself and upon the main portion of the sheet to provide a plurality of pockets to receive therein the opposite edges of said cards.

6. A card holder comprising a sheet having means at one edge to engage the edges of cards placed on opposite sides of the main portion of said sheet, the opposite edge of said sheet being folded back upon the main portion of the sheet to provide pockets for the reception of the opposite edge of one of said cards, thence folded back upon itself and across the end of the main portion of the sheet, and being thence folded back and forth upon itself and upon the main portion of the sheet to form a second pocket to receive the edge of a card placed on the opposite edge of the sheet to said first mentioned card, and also forming a third pair of opposed pockets lapping the main portion of said sheet to pro vide a pocket, the opposite edge of said sheet being folded over upon itself to form a second pocket, said pockets being adapted to receive therein the opposite edges of a card placed parallel with the main portion of said sheet.
