Patented July 12, 1932 VwrLrR-Inf J. 1101,01 EAST oRAnen, J RSEY, A ssIeNoPv conronarron on NEW JERSEY 1 BRACELET nun cem nt-m Application filed June 27,
This invention relates to a-braceletrend connecter for separably connecting the end of the bracelet to a bail or spring pin of a Watch, and has for its object to provide a construction which will be held in snug engagement with the bail or cross pin of a i watch.
' A further object of the invention is the provision of a construction in which the movable member will engage the bail or cross pin of a watch to hold the same in closed position.
lVith these and other objects and advantageous features in view, the invention consists of a novel arrangement of parts more fully disclosed in the detailed description following, in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, and moreparticularlyset forth in the appended claims.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a plan View of a watch showing connecters at each side of the watch each connecting one of the bracelet partsthereto;
Fig. 2 is a central sectional view through the connecter;
Fig. 3 is a section on line 33 of Figure 2;
Fig. 4 is a section on line 44 of Figure 2;
Fig. 5 is a perspective view ofthe body part ofthe connecter; i
Fig. 6 is a perspective View of the jaw which is pivotally mounted with relation thereto. V i
It is found desirable inthe use of connecters for joining a bracelet strap such as mesh or the like to a watch to provide a detachable connection between the connecter and the bracelet so that the bracelet may be cut off a desired length and attached thereto for shortening the encircling size of the same about the wrist, and it is also found desirable to provide a means for closing the hook or portion engaging the bail of the watch and to engage the bail, spring pin or p 1 cross bar portion thereof to asslst 1n holding the aw in closed position and also to pre vent movement which may result in accidental opening of the jaw; and in order to ac- .complish these results, I have provided a construction in which the body portion is formed with a hook anda aw is pivoted in the body an ther connecter 'tionr: v. having one portion to grip the bracelet and portionto close the entrance to the 'hook'and at the samejtime frictionally engage the bailorfcross pin of the watch to assist in holding the jaw in closed position {and the following is a detailed description o'f the present embodiment of my invention illustrating the preferred meansby which these advantageous results may be accomplished. With reference to the drawing, 10 designates'a wristwatch having a'bail portion 11 I. at either side thereof which consists of lugs 12 extending from the watch between which .there ismounted a spring pin or crossbar 18-wh1ch 1s removable for recelvlng certain types of end connections, although itri's not necessary to remove the pin for attaching the which is the subject of this invenwatch bya connecter which consists of a body asiat'lTand bent to form a hook of a size andshape to receive the bail and swing about the same in a hingingfashion." The edge of the hook is recessed as at 18 intermediate itsedge portions 19 and 20. The body is provided withside walls 21 each having an opening 22 to receive trunnions23 of the jaw. 24. to pivotally mount the same in th'eb'ody. The jaw is provided with a-cam portion 25 tov swing toward the bracelet part let-which is positioned between the side walls 21and engage. the same and bind it between theedgeof thiscam portion 25' and the body of the connecter: extend into the bracelet part14'to increase the holding strength of this cam portion. Onthe "opposite side ofthe pivotally mounted trun .nions 23, a lever portion 27 extends which is provided with a lip- 28 of a through the recess. 18 and pin13of the watch; Thelip 28 is curved to conform to the shape of the pin 13 and thus to extend beneaththe sameslightly so as to grip and prevent accidental swinging of ,the. aw

jaw to release the connecter from the watch or the bracelet from the connecter. I
WVhi-lelhave described certainconstruetion forms which embody the prineiplesof my in vention, it is obvious that other desired changes in arrangement may 'b'emade with-i in the spirit and the scope oi the inventionias defined in the appended claims. ;I claim: a
