This invention relates to a machine adapted to crush stone or similar material and it aims to provide a construction which may be operated at exceedingly low cost and in which the material is squeezed rather than rubbed in order to effect the crushing.
It is also aimed to provide a novel con struction which is exceedingly compact, adjustable according to the degree of crushing desired and a construction which provides minimum moving joints.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings illustrating an operative embodiment.

Referring specifically to the drawings, 10 generally designates a boxing which is open at the top to receive the material to be crushed and open at the bottom for discharge thereof. Such boxing is generally of rectangular form and exceedingly sturdy and solid.
A movable or crushing jaw is employed at 11 which is in the form of a lever pivoted on a cross shaft 12 mounted in suitable ar bors or plates 13 removably bolted or otherwise secured to the boxing. The openings 12 in arbors 13 which mount said shaft 13, are eccentric. Since the arbors are removable, they may be reversed so that the openings 12 may be arranged closer to the rear of the machine than to the front. In this way, the extent of the mouth of the crusher may be regulated. To secure the regulation, the arbors are removed, and then turned end for end. I claim as my invention 2- 1. In acrusher, a jaw movable to crush material, an actuator for said jaw, a shaft having an eccentric operable through the actuator to move the latter to cause movement of the jaw, a contractile spring urging movement of the jaw counter to said actuator, said actuator being rotatable on the eccentric for adjustment thereof and having means controlled by the adjustment for moving the jaw to different extents to govern the degree of crushing.
2. In a crusher, a jaw movable to crush material, an actuator for said jaw, a shaft having an eccentric operable through the actuator to move the latter to cause movement of the jaw, a contractile spring urging movement of the jaw counter to said actuator, said actuator having a plurality of slots about the same of different depths, a contact bar applicable selectively to said slots and adapted for engagement with the jaw, said actuator being rotatable about said eccentric to operatively position the slots.
3. In a crusher, a jaw movable to crush material, means to actuate the jaw, a shaft pivotally mounting the jaw, arbors having openings providing bearings for saidshaft, said arbors being removable and reversible, and the openings of said arbors for said shaft being closer to one end than to the other.
4. In a crusher, a jaw movable to crush'material, actuating means for said jaw, a shaft pivotally mounting the jaw, a, pair of relatively oblong arbors having openings for removably mounting said shaft, said arbors being removable and reversible end for end,
and the openings of said arbors mounting said shaft being located closer to one end of each arbor than to the other, to enable adjustment of the mouth of the jaw according to the position of the arbors.
