My invention relates to improvements in handles for razor strops, and the like, wherein matching handle members, formed from non-absorbent material adapted to be readily cleaned and kept sanitary, are secured upon the handle end of a razor strop to provide a sanitary means for holding the strop when in use.

Razor strops are commonly provided with handles formed from leather or other absorbent material, permanently secured to the strop and usually forming an integral part thereof. Such handles absorb moisture, oil and grease, and the like, and dirt and foreign materials of various kinds adhere and become inground into the handle, thereby rendering the handle unsanitary. This is particularly true of strops used by barbers in barbering establishments wherein the strops are used with great frequency. Barbers, after gripping and using the strops, apply their hands directly to the faces of successive patrons in applying lather, lotions, and the like, and in administering massage. In this manner, patrons are exposed directly to the unsanitary condition of the strop handles.

The primary object of my present invention is, therefore, to provide an improved handle for razor strops which is non-absorb ent, and which may be readily cleaned and kept sanitary.

Another object is to provide an improved handle which may be easily and efficiently secured upon the handle end of razor strops.

A further object is to provide an improved handle which will effectively gr1p the end of a razor strop and hold the same in flat relation to the handle.

A still further object is to provide an improved device of the character described which is light, compact, and attractive in appearance, and which may be manufactured economically.

I accomplish these and other objects by means of the improved device disclosed in r the drawings forming a part of the present application wherein like characters ofreference are used to designate similar. parts throughout the specification and drawings, and in which v I Fig. 1 is a front elevation of my improved handle as applied upon a razor strop;

such as metal, celluloid, or other suitable material. The body portions of'the members 1 and 2 are shaped to form a convenient grip whereby thehandle may be easily and eifectively held in the hand of a' user. e

The edges of the body portions of the members 1 and 2 are provided with flanges 3 and 4 respectively, the-flanges of one of the members being adapted to be moved. into telescoping relation to the flanges of the other membelz The flanges 3 and 4 are arranged to be pressed into telescoping relation and to retain the members 1 and 2'in matching assembled relation.

The members 1 and 2 are provided with flat extensions 6 projecting in spaced parallel relation from the body portions of said members and arranged to receive the handle end of a razor strop 7 therebetween. The extensions 6 have lips 8 turned inwardly along their ends in opposing relation, to provide gripping engagement with the end of the strop 7. Securing members 9 are applied through apertures formed in the extensions 6 to match with corresponding apertures ilrthe 9U? end of the strop whereby the handle members may be easily and effectively secured upon the strop. The securing members 9 preferably consist of suitable threaded bolts provided with nuts 11 whereby the handle may be easily removed when desired.

In operation, the handle members 1 and 2 are pressed into engagement with each other, with the end of the strop 7 embraced between the extensions 6. lVhen the securing members 9 are applied through the registering apertures of the extensions 6 and the strop 7, and the nuts 11 are ti htened, the lips 8 are pressed into the adjacent surfaces of the 15 strop, thereby effectually clamping the handle onto the strop and holding the 'strop'endflat.

When the strop is to be used, the handle is gripped in the ordinary manner.

The non-absorbent character of the handle prevents moisture, perspiration, oil, and grease, or

the handle, and permits the handle to be easily cleaned and sterilized to maintain a sanitary condition. When desired, the securing members 9 may be removed and the entire handle removed and sterilized in any suitable waywithout injury to the strop.

While I have illustrated and described what I regard as the preferred construction of my invention, the device may be modified in the specific details of size, shape, materials, and in the specific details of construction without departing from the spirit of my invention, and I desire to avail myself of all modifications which may fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is v IQA razor strop handle comprising a pair ofhandle members provided with flanged edges, the flanged edge of one member being movable into telescoping relation to the flanged edge of the other; lips formed upon the handle members in opposing relation to engage the handle end of a razor strop; and

means for securing the handle members and lips in clamping engagement with the strop.

2. A razor strop handle comprising a pair of handle members provided with flanged edges, the flanged edge of one member beingmovable into telescoping relation to the flanged edge-of the other; lips formed upon the handle members in opposing relation to engage the handle end of a razor strop, said members having apertures registering with corresponding apertures in the strop; and

securing members mounted in engagement with the apertures to detachably secure the members upon the strop.
