Another object of the invention is to provide a bail shape member adjustably con nected with the sides of the seat, which memably connected to the sides of the seat to support a back-rest, a portion of said ball being so disposed with respect to the backrest. as to prevent its accidental engagement with an associated article of furniture so as to damage the same in the moving about of the chair, to which it is subjected in use.

I claim as my invention 1., A chair embodying therein a seat, supporting arms pivotally and vertically adjusably connected to the seat, a bail lncluding side arms and a top connecting member, said side arms being adj ustably connected to said seat, inwardly extending brackets on the side members of the bail, a back-rest and means connecting said back-rest to said supporting arms and to said brackets in a plane below the top connecting member of said bail;

A chair embodyihg therein a seat, supporting arms pivotally and vertically adjustably connected at their bottom ends to said seat, a bail including side arms and atop connecting member, said side arms being adjustably connected to said seat, inwardly extending brackets on said side arms of the bail and including portions disposed adjacent the top ends of said supporting arms, a back-rest and means pivotally connecting said backrest with said top ends of said arms and said portions of said brackets so that said backrest is supported thereby.

A chair embodying therein a seat, sup porting members operatively connected at their bottom ends to said seat, a bail includseat, connecting means between the top ends of the supporting arms and side members of the bail, said connecting means extending forwardly of the sides of the bail, and a back rest pivoted to the connecting means forwardly of the sides of the bail and located below the top connecting member of the bail.
