Description
F. CZEMBA FENCE POST May 24, 1932 Filed Jan. 22, 93
Patented May 24, 1932 mm: czruunsn, or DULIUTH, mmso'ra FENCE ros'r Application filed January 22, 1931. Serial No. 510,529.
This invention relates to fence posts and the like and is disclosed herein as embodied in a novel type of post made of a rolled section. The various features and advantages of 6 the invention will be brought out from a reading of the following specification and a study of the appended drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view of the rear of the post.
Figure 2 is a view of the side of the post 1 shown in Figure 1, and
Figure 3 is a vertical section taken along the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
As illustrated, the reference numeral indicates generally a rolled metal fence post T-shaped in cross section provided with a head 12, a stem 14 and a bulb 16 formed at the rear extremity of the stem,
The bulb 16 is for strengthening purposes and so distributes the metal about the neu- 20 tral axis as to give very high resistance to bending especially in a direction parallel to the'stem of the post.
As is customary in metallic posts, the post herein'disclosed and claimed is provided with means for co-operating with a fence wire clamp 18 which grips and holds against vertical movement horizontally extending fence wires 20. As illustrated, the bulb of the stem of the T is formed along its opposite sides with a series of studs 22 that are rolled or otherwise suitably formed and are substantially round at their line of junction with the sides of the bulb 16. These studs serve to prevent vertical displacement of the clip and serve 5 efficiently in co-operating with the clamp 18.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 2 v A rolled section suitable for fence posts and the like, said section being approximate- 7 1y T-shaped in cross section, the stem of the T being provided with a bulb having spaced studs projecting from its opposite sides and the studs being of approximately circular cross section at their line of junction with the sides of the bulb.
Signed at Duluth, Minnesota, this 8th day of Jan, 1931. w FRANK OZEMBA.
