vFrom thefabove detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and voperation thereof will at once be apparwent, it being noted that When the clothes :line is outof use, the combined pulley and "hook 25 is suspended at the outer side of the vrbinding `upon the hook 26 and the registering `notched openings V20 and the meeting rails 16 of the hinged sashes 17 are closed vby the sliding plates 22 asshown in Figure 5. When the endless clothes line is set up oruse, the cupboard door 14 is opened and the rack segment 31 upon thearm 29 substantially .aligns with the registering notches 20 sovthat a direct pull on the clothes line is substantially parallel with the open end door 14, `thelatter having a plurality of hinge' mountings to relieve undue strain on the door.
` Thefclothesare placedon one .of the runs 19 ofthe endless ,clothes line Within the kitch- 4,en mom 11 so that itis unnecessary for a per- .son togo to theouter side of the building to place 'the' clothes on the line, sagging or slack of the line being taken up by shifting the arm 29 by rotating the rack pinion 32 for shifting the rack segment 31 and arm 29, the different positions of the rack segment being illustrated in Figures 7 and 8.
While there is herein shown and described the preferredv embodiment of they invention, itis nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim y 1. In a'clothes hanging apparatus wherein Y one end of; an endless clothes line is supported Within a building and the other end is supported outside of the lbuilding* .and in which the line passes through awindow of thebuilding, said: Window comprising hinged sashes, the meeting edges v.of the sashes having line passage openings therein and shutters to close the openings carried by themeetng edge Vof one sash and movahle'into the edge of the other sash. l
2. I-n a clotheshanging apparatus wherein one end ofan endless clothes line is support- I ed within a buildingandr the otherl end issupported outside of the building and in'which nthe line passes through a Window of. the
building, the .support for the inner end of the endless clothes line comprising a perpendicular member, an arm pivoted on the member,
which the clothesline is. attached .and a manually operable pinion and paWl .device coa'cting with the rack for placing the vclothes* line under tension.
In testimony whereof 'I aiiix my signature.
