This invention relates to trousers holders and the object of the invention is to provide a holder for trousers adapted to clamp the trousers at the cuff and at the hips and maintain a tension on the fabric to hold the trousers flat and draw out the creases or wrinkles so that the trousers will appear as though newly pressed after being in the holder for a period of time.

Another object of the invention is to provide a pair of clamp members having wire frames extending therebetween, the said wire frames being adapted to telescope and yieldable means being provided between the frames for forcing the clamp members apart.

Another object of the invention is to pro vide a trousers holder of the character described arranged to allow a short telescoping action of the clamp supporting; frames. the said frames being also arranged to frictionally resist a complete telescopic movement thereof.

it. further obiect of the invention is to provide a pair of clamp members each having a substantially U shaped heavy wire frame, the said frames being; engaged together for telescoping;- action in relation to each other and the cross member of one frame being provided with elastic strips carrying hook ends adapted to be engaged over the cross memher of the other U shaped frame.

These objects and the several. novel features of the invention are hereinafter more fully described and claimed and the preferred form iii) attained is shown in the accompanying drawin as in which- Fin: 1 is a perspective view of a trousers ho der embodying my invention.

The device comprises a clamp for the trousers cuii consistingof a wood clamp member '1 and a similar clamp member 2 connected together at one end by the hinge 3. The clamp members 1 and 2 are faced on the inside with a felt facing 4: adapted to engage the trousers cuff. The clamp member 2 is of construction by which these objects are.

provided with a notch 5 at the end opposite the hinge 3 and a clamping member 6' is positioned in this notch and a plate 7 is secured thereover so that the member 6 may turn in the notch 5. The member 6 is shown more particularly in Fig. 3 and is provided with an extending end S which may be grasped in turning the member 6 from the locked to the released position. A wire hanger 9, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is secured to the wood clamp 50 member 1 and is provided with an eye 10 by which the device may be hung up. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a pair of recesses 11 are provided in the wood member 2 and a substantially U shaped frame of heavy wire orrod 05 is provided having two upwardly extending legs 12 and 13 adapted to be engaged in the recesses 11.

The lower clamping device comprises two clamp members 14; and 15 connected together at one end by the hinge 16 and being provided with a locking member 6 at the opposite ends for clamping these two members together. The lower clamp member is similar to the upper clamp member except that it is longer in order to ensgasre the trousers at a wider point and the end of the clamp mem bers 1 and 14 are cut on a radius as shown in order to allow the clamp member 6 to be enpaged thereover.

An inverted U shaped heavy wire frame is provided with ends 17 and 18 adapted to ene'aae in the recesses 19 provided therefor in the clamp member 15. The portion 20 of the inverted U shaped frame connecting, the less 17 and 18 is bent about the legs 12 and 1 of the other U frame at the points 21 and while the cross member 23 connecting the lens 12 and 13 of the other U shaped frame is bent about the less 17 and 18 of the inverted U frame at the points 24 and 25. By this arrangement. the U shaped frames engage and may be telescoped u on each other as they are slidable in relation to each other. As w ll be noted from Fig. 3, the legs 12 and 13 0 of the U shaped frame are provided with sloping portions 26. while the legs 17 and 18 of the inverted U frame are provided with similar sloping portions 27 and the telescoping or sliding action of the two frame memloo bers may freely take place between the sloping portions 26 and 27.

To use the device the clamps 6 are released and the clamp members 1 and 1a are swung outwardly on their hinges to allow a pair of trousers to be placed in the device. The cuff 32 of the trousers is positioned on the clamp member 2 and the clamp member 1 is turned down to engage the trousers cuff and the clamp member 6 is turned to the locking position to bind the trousers cuff between the clamp members 1 and 2. The trousers are laid flat in the device with the hips of the trousers resting on the clamp member 15 at which time the clamp member 14 is turned to engage the trousers between the members 14-. and 15, and the respective .member 6 is turned to the locking position to bindingly engage the trousers between the clamp members 14 and 15.

In order to place a tension on the trousers, a pair of elastic webs 28 are secured to the cross member 20 of one frame and a hook member 29 is secured in the ends of the elastic webs 28 and is provided with a pair of hooks 30 adapted to be engaged over the cross member 23 of the other U shaped frame. Vhen the trousers are positioned in the device, the cross members 20 and 23 are preferably spaced apart greater than the normal length of the elastic webs 28 so that it is necessary to stretch these webs in engaging the hook ends- 30 over the cross bar 23. By stretching these elastic webs, the tension placed thereon tendsto move the clamping members at the cuff and hips of the trousers apart and maintains a tension on the fabric of the trousers which tends to take out the wrinkles or creases in the trousers except the normal creases placed in the trousers by pressing. When the trousers have been thus mounted in the device, the device may be hung on a hook by means of the hanger 9 at the upper end thereof.'

The device may be readily disassembled to be carried in a grip or suitcase by firstremoving the trousers therefrom. At this time, the upper clamp member may be lifted off from the ends 12 and 13 of its U shaped frame, while the ends 17 and 18 may be withdrawn from the recesses 19 in the lower clamping member. The hook ends 30 may be then disengaged from the cross bar 23 and the cross bars 20 and 23 may be drawn apart until the ends 12 and 13 reach the points 24 and 25 of the cross bar 23. The device is then collapsed and in compact form so that the three pieces may be readily packed in a suitcase.

From the foregoing description it becomes evident that the device is very simple and efficient in operation, will not easily get out of order, is very compact in form, is composed of few parts and is of consequent low the ends of each frame member, the frame members spacing the clamping members apart, yieldable members secured to the cross portion of one U shaped frame member and a hook member carried by the yieldable members and adapted to be hooked over the cross portion of the other U shaped frame member to force the ends of the frame members apart.

In a trousers holder, a pair of substantially U shaped wire frame members telescopically connected together with the cross portion of the frame members adjacent each other, yieldable means connected to one cross portion and a hook member carried by the yieldable means and adapted to be engaged over the other cross portion and a trousers clamping member carried by the outer ends of each frame member.
