Description

Patented Apr. 26, 1932 romv r. MJ'ORUD, or rn'rnnseune, ALASKA WATERPROOFING COMPOUND No Drawing. Application filed January 18, 1929 Serial No. 333,521
This invention relates to. improvements in water proofing material, and has for its object to provide an inexpensive, durable and eifective waterproof fabric.
Another object of this invention is to provide a waterproofing compound, comprising linseed oil and rubber.
With the above and such other objects in View as may be more fully hereinafter set forth, I have invented the waterproof compound and fabric-described below.
lhe following is the formula of my waterproofing compound:
1% gallons of linseed oil.
34 ounces of gum rubber.
The above ingredients are boiled together and thoroughly mixed, after which the fabric 7 is dipped and thoroughly saturated in the compound, and then permitted to dry, whereupon itis ready for use.
lhe fabric usedmay'be a very inexpensive, loosely woven cotton fabric from which a perfectly waterproof and durable garment, or other articles such as umbrellas, hats, and the like may be made. Because of the simple nature of the waterproofing, and the fact that the compound above described will not dry out to such an extent that it will crack, the material will be very durable.
Of course more inexpensive fabrics such as silk, and so forth, may be saturated with my compound when it is desired to work the material into more expensive garments.
Having now described my invention, that which I claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is:
A waterproofing compound, comprising linseed oil and gum rubber, boiled together until thoroughly mixed, the proportions of the ingredients being 34 ounces of rubber to 1% gallons of oil.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JOHN P. MJORUD.
