The present invention relates to improvements in firearms, and the main object of this invention is to provide a. two barrel repeating gun, each of said barrels, having a respective tiring mechanism, independent from one another. Another object is to provide agun with a shot gun bore and a rifle bore in order that the user carries one gun only, instead of two.
A further object is to provide a gun with two barrels each having an independent firing mechanism, said firing mechanisms being controlled by a single finger-lever, which operates thebreech-bolts to close, ready for tiring, or extract the fired shell or shells.
This invention principally consists in providing a gun with two barrels, which may be adapted to ire differentcaliber cartridges or one of said barrels being adapted to lire bullet cartridges and the other shot cartridges. Each of said barrels is respectively provided with a breech-bolt, a cartridge magazine and an independent trigger mechanism. The breech-bolts are suitably connected to one single finger-lever and actuated thereby. The breech-bolts are each provided with a pivoting cam-member which is adapted to become disengaged from the connecting members of the finger-lever, when the breech-bolt is in firing position. After one or both of the breech-bolts have been tired, they automatically engage the linger-lever, which upon opening will actuate said bolt or bolts to extract the fired shell and when closing same will reload the gun.
This particular arrangement will be further fully described as well as other details of construction, such as the barrels which are preferably made of one integral piece of metal, the smaller rifle bore, if the gun has two bores of differentl calibers, being located below the horizontal plane of the shot bore and preferably at equal center thereto, from one end to the other.

Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in each ligure.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents the receiver or casing in which the firing mechanism is lodged, and 2 the butt-stock which is secured to the receiver by the usual butt-stock screw, not shown. In the top of the receiver are provided, preferably, two parallel breech-openings 3 through which the cartridges 4. are inserted and the shells ejected. Below said breech openings 3 are located the magazines 5. As there are two barrels, it has been found preferable to provide two breech openings and two independent magazines, one for each barrel. Below the receiver is suitably pivotally mounted the linger-lever 6, and in the forward end of said receiver is secured the barrel unit 7.
The barrel unit 7 consists preferably of one piece of metal with two longitudinal and parallel bores 8 and 9, respectively. In the accompanying drawings, the bore 8 is for shot cartridges, while the bore 9 which is of smaller diameter, is for riiie cartridges. The outer walls 10 ofthe bore 8 will therefore be of a larger diameter than the outer walls 11 of the bore 9, and the center of said rifle bore 9 will be in horizontal plane with the center of the shot bore 8, as shown in Fig. 3, of the drawings. Located above the outer wall 11, and integral therewith is provided a longitudinal embossment 12, which extends the full length of the barrel unit 7 and is parallel thereto, and upon said embossment are mounted the front sight 13 and rear sight 14.
In each of the breech-openings 3, is respectively and slidably mounted the breech-bolts 15 and 16, the breech bolt 15 (2o-operating vwith the bore 9 and the breech-bolt 16 with the bore 8 of the barrel unit 7. Said breechbolts are respectively provided with the usual lhammer 17 and firing pin 18, around which tal 'ated to `extract the fired shell.

When the firing-pin is in its operative position, that is when, it is in firing position, the end of the cam-lever22 will be pressed inwardly against the tip of the iring-pin by means of thesmall spiralspring 24, which is located in the side of said breechbolt adjacent its cam-end. Vhen in this position, the cam-memberl 23 carried at the other end of the lever 22, will be out of engagement with'the end of the lever 25, which normally engages the cam,*the action of which will be described hereinafter.

The finger-lever 6 which is located below the receiver 1, is preferably provided .with a cross or enlarged horizontal member*V 28 and in each end of saidA cross-memberis rigidly-y secuied a curved-lever '25, eachterminating in the rounded end 29, respectively engaging the cam-groove 30, which is provided in each of t-he cam-members 23. By opening the finger-lever, both breecli-bolts will be retracty ed, similarly as `in an ordinary'rie, iflboth barrels have'been fired, as both cams 30 .will be engaged by their respective lcurved lever 25, but if only one barrel has'been iired and f the hammer controlling the other barrel is.

`It should be noted: that only theaprincipal parts ofthel rifle mechanism bearing on the present invention have'been disclosed in the drawings and herein described, as all the remaining mechanism is well known and may Vbe of the usual type.
It is also Well understood that only a preferred form of: the invention has'been dis-.- closed, and'that: modifications may be 'made' without departingifrom the spirit andl scope voftheffollowing claims foi` novelty.
