IMPROVEMENT IN PlC TURE-EXHIBITORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. I 85,139, dated December 5, 1876'; application filed September 26, 1876.

The case proper consists of a semicircular box, A, preferably closed at the top and bottom, and joined at its front edges to a flat portion, B, having a central opening, across which extends a stem, a, and to the latter are hinged a number of leaves, D, each leaf being constructed for the reception and display of a photographic card in the same manner as the leaves of a photographic album. Each leaf is hung to the stem to by means of two hinges, b, and these hinges are formed of fiat strips of sheet metal, bent so as to form a ring, 0, for embracing the stem and arms at cl, which clasp the edge of the leaf, and may be secured to the same by suitable pins or rivets. (See Fig. 4.) To the front B of the case, at each end of the same, arehinged covers E, which, when closed, meet in the center, and serve to protect the photographic cards. The stem a, is reduced in diameter at the points where the hinges 1) occur, so as to prevent the vertical displacement of the leaves D.
The front portion B of the case extends beyond the top and bottom of the body A, so as to conceal it from view, and so that when the case is placed upon a flat surface the front will assume the inclined position, Fig. 3, most favorable tor a proper exhibition of the pictures.
The above described exhibiting case is cheaper and more ornamental than the usual album, and permits a more ready examination of the pictures.
I claim as my invention 1. The combination of the body A of the case with the front B, the edges of which project beyond the top and bottom of said body, whereby the said case will'support itself in an inclined position when placed on a fiat surface, as set forth.
2; The combination of the stem a and the cards D with the hinges b, constructedas described, and each consisting of a ring, 0, and the arms 01 d, adapted to embrace the edge of the card, as set forth.
