My invention relates to saw-sets and certain objects of the invention are to provide a saw-set that is adapted for manual operation by foot and hand, which embodies means for setting saw teeth at predetermined angles together with adjustable means whereby the angles may be changed as desired, and which embodies adjustable means for regulating the length of the plunger stroke and adjustable means for setting the base block at different heights.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the novel construction adaptation, combination and arrangement hereinafter described and claimed. These objects are accomplished by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings; wherein;
Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of the machine as a whole;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the complete machine;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view in perspective of the main operating parts of the'machine;
Fig. 4 is a view in central vertical section of the same.
Referring to the drawings throughoutwhich like reference numerals designate like parts, the numeral 5 indicates the rear legs and 6 indicates the forward legs which are convergently disposed and the four legs are held in spaced relation and triangular disposition by three upper frame members 7 and 35 in rectangular disposition at their lower portions by four frame members 8. A seat 9 is mounted on said upper frames where they convergently join the forward legs for convenience of the operator.
The rear legs 5 slant inwardly to the upper frames 7 and their portions above said frames, as designated by the numeral 10, are vertically disposed as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. Said rear legs and their upper portions are provided with vertical slots 11. The upper slidable member 31 is provided with a horizontal slot 37. A screw rod which is threadedly disposed thru the member Wt (ill is provided with an annular shoulder 36, which coacts with slot 37 By loosening the thumb screw 33 the member 31 is free to be adjusted thru the operation of the screw rod 35 by turning the knob 38.
In the operating of my device, a saw such as shown at 39, is placed in the position shown in Fig. 4 with its teeth directly under the plunger 21 and one of its sides resting on the slidable upper member 31 in a horizontal disposition. By pressing on the foot lever 28 and moving the saw along by hand plunger may be made to turn every other tooth outward and by turning the saw over the remaining teeth may be turned outwardly in the opposite direction. If a coarser set of the saw teeth is desired for the purpose of sawing a wider kerf the upper member 31 is moved outwardly by turning the screw knob 38 to the right thus giving a greater slant to the saw and a finer set may be made by turning said knob in the opposite direction as will be understood.
Referring to Fig. 3 of the drawings, I usually provide a scale such as shown at 10 on thestationary member 30 and an index mark 41 on the slidable member 31. Thus, invmoving said slidable member the pitch or setting of the saw teeth may be predetermined by shifting said slidable member until its index mark registers with any number or mark on the scale to give the desired setting.
Having thus described my invention, it being understood that minor changes in its construction may be resorted to without departing from its scope and spirit, what I claim anddesire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is A sawset comprising a frame, upwardly projecting spaced apart angular members for the frame, a base block, depending side plates for said block, the corners of said block slidably disposed within the angular frame members, clamping means for said side plates whereby the base block may be adjusted to various heights, a foot lever, a plunger, a connecting rod between the lever and plunger, a connecting link between the plunger and connecting rod, adjusting means for said link, spring means for retaining the plunger in a normally raised position, an anvil slidably disposed in a groove in the base block and having a beveled inner portion, adjusting means whereby said anvil may be moved inwardly and outwardly with respect to the plunger, and screw clamping means for the anvil.
