This invention is a clipper sterilizer, and I has special reference to a device for sterilizing barbers hair clippers.

The main object of the invention 1s to pro- .Q vide a device by means of which a barbers' hair clipper may be quickly and conveniently sterilized. r 1 Another object of the invention is to pro-. vide a device as outlined which is ready for instant use and which prevents escape of the I sterilizing agents used and in which the sterilizing agent is conveniently added.

A further object of the invention is to pro vide such a device which is easily cleaned, attractive, economically manufactured, and

whichis eflicient in its purpose. The body of the sterilizer consists of a cup 10 formed of sheet metal, the open endll of which is retracted to a smaller diameter as at 12 to slidably receive the cover or front 13 which is made of equal diameter to the body so as to provide a flush joint 14 when assembled. Engaging slots 15 are provided for rotatably securing the cover 13 by means of inwardly projecting pins 16 which are fixed on the inside of the cover flange 17. i

the'container being preferably filled with an: absorbent material which is then saturated with a volatile or slightly volatile antiseptic solution; j p v Secured to the inside of cover13,-by means of screws 21 which cooperate with a ring 22 of sheet metal, is a rubber diaphragm 23 which covers an opening 24 in the cover 13,

and which has an opening 25 therethrough H slightly smallerthan the body portion of the cl1pper'26'so as to seal about the clipper when I inserted as indicated in Fig. 3.

'Theinterior of the body is filled with the vapors of the antiseptic used.

Operation of the device merely requires forcmg the clipper through the opening 25 in diaphragm 23 which 'tightlygrips about the body of the clipper and seals against the escape of vapors. As the clipper is forced through the opening the cover 27. is forced back, permitting the vapors to reach all parts of the operating end of the clipper. 'Aftery the required period of sterilization, the clipg per is withdrawn, and the door 27 automatically closes, sealing the vapors within the body10.' J'

Having described an operative method of constructing and using the device, it will be understood that variations in construction I and arrangement which areeonsistent with Q 7 the appended claims may be resorted to without detracting from the spiritor scope of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.

I claim: 7

'1. A clipper sterilizer comprising a vapor chamber, a removable cover therefor, an opening in said cover, a diaphragm over said opening and having .a clipper receiving aperture adapted to contract about the body of said clipper, resiliently actuated means for closing said aperture, and a receptacle With- 7 in said chamber for a volatile antiseptic.

2.. A clipper sterilizer comprising a vapor I chamber, a removable cover therefor, an opening in said cover-, a diaphragm of elastic material fixed to the inside of said cover and extendlng over said opening, a restricted clipper receiving aperture 1n said dlaphragm,

and resiliently actuated closing means for said aperture, and a receptacle for volatile antise tic Within said chamber.

3. clipper sterilizer comprising a vapor V chamber, a removable cover therefor, an opening in said cover, a diaphragm of elastic material fixed to the inside of said cover and extending over said opening, a restricted aperture through said diaphragm adapted to expansibly receive the body portion of said clipper and engage thereabout to prevent the escape of vapors from said chamber, a spring actuated hinged door secured below said opening to the inside of said cover and adapted to close said aperture, a resilient pad on said door, and a receptacle for a volatile antiseptic disposed in said chamber.
