The sand bag 23 and weight 25 are balanced one betweentheother over the rocker mem- 'berg above *described as Carriedbythe bars 16and17.
In order to permit the sand bag 23ste exert: itsl full weight toward the table 10`it is necessary to relieve the pullof the weight 25 therefrom and for this purpose I provide arnecha'- i y nism which-"I shall now describe. f :65 Between' 'the' lower ends'of the fupri'ght Vloars A16 and 17 `I' pivotally mount a foot lever 26' tohave its forward-end -extendthrough a loop 27 fixed on thesidej of theleg 13. vA

to the cross arni 18 to retainthe leven-32 and thebarBO in -sliding'."engagement thereover as the rocker'member'may 'be' shifted-'i100 upon change in the position of 'the sand bag 23. v
Normally, it is desired that the sand bag 23 be resting upon the table l0 so as to be absorbing heat therefrom. To place the sand bag in that position, the bag is grasped by the handles 4l and 42 and pulled downwardly to contact the table. This operation isv accomplished with slight physical exertion on account of the counterweight 25 tending to balance the sand bag. However unless Vthe pull of the weight 25 is released the sand bag will not settle down firmly against the top of the table 10. Accordingly, the foot lever 26 is pushed down by its front" end and engaged over the ear 29, during which travel, the link 34 has pushed up on the arm 33 to rock the lever 32 forwardly to engage the vpin 31. With the sand bag 23 in conta t with the table 10, the cross arm 18 has been rocked to carry the pi-n 31 upwardly to push back the shoulder 37 andas the lever 26 is pushed downwardly by its forward end, this shoulder 37 swings in under Vthe pin 3l. and pushes upw-ardly on it to rock the arm V18 and its attachedmembers urth-er around to elevate .the weight's25 and release the pull on the cable 22, whereby the lsand bag '23 flattens out and rests upon the table under its .ull weight and without any upward pull.
VWhen the machine is to be used, the lever 26 is released from under the ear to lower the weight 25 and rock the channel members 20, 2l and 19 laround to permitjthe wei ht 25 to cause a pull to be exerted on the ca le 22 and thus tend to .lift the .sand bag 23. VThe bag 23 may vthen lbe lifted easily with aid -o the weight 25 and a block 43 :may .be placed upon the table with a hat 44 inverted thereover. :The sand bag 23 still lretaining the heatabsorbed from the table 10 is pulled down to rest on and press 'the brim of the yhat against the block-43. Y
A When the sand bag 23 contacts the `hat 44, the l pin A31 has .then been rocked upwardly .to be ypulled above the .line of the shoulder 36. The lever26 is then pulled down vby its Atlf-ront end to cause the shoulder 36 to be swung under the pin 3l and to push upwardly `thereon to lift the weight 25 and relieve the pull on the cable 22 so as to allow the sand bag23 to settle down by its own weight over the brim of the hat 44. When the pressing operation is completed the lever 26 is released .from under the ear 29 and the weight 251 is allowed to be .lowered thereby so as lto retur'n the .pull on the cable22 and perfmittheeasy raising of the sand bag 23.
vThe lever 32 normally tendsto swing rearwardiy by its :upper end b y .reason of .the
vpull of gravity so asto normally carry the shoulders 3,6andg37 rearwardly from under ithefpin 31.
While I .have `here shownandrdescribed my :invention in the one form as now best known to me, it is entirely obvious that structural changes may be made from that form without departing from the spirit of the inventon, and I, therefore, do not desire to be limited to that precise form, nor any more than may be required by the following claims.
I claim: V y
