The door isprovided. with an opening 19 which maybe bored-therein by any ordinary boring drill, and a chain 15is adapted to be led through this opening, and has pivoted to its end, an anchoring element, indicated by the numeral20, whichelement comprises a head portion 21, and a finger portion 22, the chain being connected to the element intermediate the ends thereof so that the portion 21 of the element will extend at a slight angle away from the door when the element is in the anchoring position shown in Figure 1. This anchoring element, together with the chain 15 constitutes also a further means for preventing surreptitious removal of the container, and it will be understood at this point by reference to Figure 1 that the. anchoring element may be tilted inwardly from the door and turned to position in alignment with the chain 15,. and then slid through the opening 19, in -disconnecting the chain and anchoring element from the door. In order that the retainer plate 5 may be held in a folded position, as shown in broken lines in Figure 1 of the drawings, a substantially semi-circular clip 23 is mounted upon the rear wall of the container andris of resilient metal so asto frictionally :grip and hold the overturned The outer or rear end of-ther'eabutment portion 11 of the retaining plate, when engaged therein.

It will be understood that due to the oblong shape of the loops 8, the ends and intermediate portions of the pintle pin 7 may have engagement in these loops at different points in the height thereof, and therefore the retaining device is effective for sills of various heights.

Inorder that display cards or a card bearing memorandumof the goods to be delivered to the user of the device may be fitted in the receptacle and retained in place, two channeled guides 2 1 are provided upon the upper side of the hinged cover 2 of the receptacle or they may be arranged upon the ends of the front thereof.

These cards may be instruction or advertising cards, in the latter instance, relating to dairies and, for example, bearing requests 1. A receptacle, a retaining plate hingedly mounted and vertically adjustable adjacent the bottom of the receptacle and adapted to be arranged horizontally across the sill of a doorway, an abutment formed on one edge of the plate and adapted to engage against the inner side of the door when the latter is closed, a chain slidable through an opening in one wall ofthe receptacle and adapted to be passed through an opening in the door, and an anchoring member pivoted on one end of the chain to be passed through the opening in the door and subsequently arranged parallel and in contacting engagement with the inner side of the door.
