to have one or more gun ports located at strategic points whereby in case 'of a holdup or armed attack the bank employees or guards can defend themselves with'gunsfwithoutexposing themselves to the tire of the bandits.
However, in order to provide absolute Lprotection to the armed employees and prevent surprise attack by the bandits Vby the latter taking advantage of the gun ports or aperturesrbefore said employees can make use of them, it isy very essential that such gun ports be closed or sealed in such a manner that they Acan be opened only from the inside and can under no circumstances .be pried .or forced open Jfrom Vthe outside or that side which is presented to the public.
To this end, the present invention contemplates the provision of a gun port having an aperture presented outwardly and provided with a closure member arranged adjacent to the inner side of said gunport and normally locked in closed position by suitable locking means arranged on the inside of said gun port and not accessible tothe public.

The wall A is in the instant case formed of non-shatterable glass but may be of steel or other material.

This gun port consists of an `outer member 11, an inner member 12, and a closure plate 14. Outer member 11 has a body portion 15 disposed in opening B. This body portion is in the shape of a truncated lcone having an outwardly presented flared-out mouth 1G, the
inner end of which terminates in a central aperture 17.

A spring 28 cooperates with said inner member 12 and with said closure plate 14 and urges the latter into closed position.
A plate 29 is pivotally mounted at 30 on the inner face of member 12 for swinging movement to and from said face. This member overlies the end 276 of said elongated opening` and is provided with astraight edge 29a which is adapted to form an abutment` or close Contact with the straight edge 14a ot' closure plate 14 when the latter occupies closed position. Thus the contiguous portions of plate 14 and plate 29 are lexposed on the inner side of wall A through the e'longated opening 27 as shown in'Figure 2.
A spring 31 bears against one side of said plate 29 and yieldingly holds the latter against the apertured wall ofniember 12. Preferably plate 29 is pivot-ally mounted yon a block 32 and spring 31 is also secured at one end to said block and the latter in turn is secured to inner member 12 adjacent to the end 27?) as shown in Figures 1 and 5.

Now it pressure is applied by said gun to said edge 11a so as to overcome spring 28, said plate is caused to move edgewise into a. position shown in full lines in Figure 17 thereby opening communication between apertures 17 and 27a `so that the barrel of said gun can be thrust outwardly into the outwardly iiared mouth 15. The funnel or cone-,shaped mouth 16 and the location ot apertures 17 and 27 close togetlier permits the barrel ofthe gun to be presented forwardly within said mouth and pointed in any direction at an angle of fortytive degrees to the axis of the device. vThus the gun can be swung readily into position at any pointof acircle. This permits accurate aim otl the gun and considerably insures the effective range ot the gun.

A gun port comprisingr a member provided with an outwardly flared aperture, said member having its outer end formed with a radial flange and its inner end with anv annular flange, a closure plateoperatively mounted adjacent to the innerside of said member and yieldably held in closed position, and a disk member detachably secured to said annular llange for enclosing said inner apertured end and said closure plate, said disk member being provided vwith an elongated slot, one end of which coincides with the inner end of said flared aperture, the other end extending to one side thereof so as to expose one edge of said closure plate.v l

10. *A gun port comprising an outer member having an outwardly flared cavity, the inner end of which terminates in an aperture, an inner member detachably secured to said first member in spaced relation therewith to provide a chamber, said inner member being provided with an elongated aperture, one end of which is conce-ntrically arranged with the first aperture, a closure plate movably arranged in said Vchamber for closing the com-j Vand through said flared-out mouth.
