to produce a stretching effect under'riolent I strains wlthout dnnlnishing the substainingv power thereof. T he second object .of the invention is the production of a resilient belt,
with which the usual pressure at the hips of: I
A pair of similar cushion pads are indicatthe user is'reduced and one thatalso secures a reduction of pressure under the belt'of the buckle. The third object of the invention,,
is the production of the resilient belt, which can be used with comfort when the user indulges in strenuous exercises, as when rowing, playing tennis, golf, baseball, running, jumping and when .indulging in various other athletic exercises. The fourth object of the invention is the production of a resilient belt suitable for a user not having protruding hips, and which will maintain the trousers or other garment supported by the belt at all times in proper position. I The fifth object of the invention is the production of a belt, which will support trousers or other gar- "ments, without excessive pressure and friction between said belt and the user. 7
The organization of the invention com prises a strap or body portion of the usual construction of leather, or other suitable material, and to which is detachably and adjustably connected one or a plurality of cushion pads.
In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 represents a perspective view of the resilient belt; Fig. 2 shows a top plan view of said belt and Fig. 3 is a section of Fig. 2 on the line 3, 3. Fig. l shows a fragmentary portionof a modified belt and Fig. 5 is a section of Fig. 4 on the line 5, 5. i
The resilient belt which may be of leather or other suitable material is indicated comprising the strap or body portion 20, with the buckle 21 at one end, having thetongue 22 and the openings 23, adjacent to the other end 24: in the usual manner. The usual guide loops 25 extend from the strap 20, for the end 24.
A plurality of female members of snap fasteners extend from and are fastened to STUART srEIn-s, or new YORK, N. Y., AssiGNon-To'srrUAnTfuTiLiTIEs oo nr lorinnw Y I a se s; In this instance the said me bersSO comprise two pairs in groupsof three at portions of the strap; 20, which against thesides of the user, and a and to the rearof'th'e buckleof the strap.
The number of groupsofthe'fasteners, the: numberin 1 each group'a' nd' their locations can be varied; I

will bear r up two ofsaidmembers are located'adjaceritly Each of". said pads comprises acover consist- I ingof two members 86 of leather or othersuitable materialstitched together at theirlongi-f tudin'al edges'37, and at their'ends 38, to form apocket'38a'in each pad. At the ends of each pad are "Within each of "said pockets is located a flexible,i'elastic' or yielding core 4L0, in this instance of sponge rubber. The said core 4:0
in this instance is indicated asoval shaped'in cross-section, but it maybe rectangular, cylindrlcal or 'SSII'llOVEll. The ends of said core formed the clamping flaps 39.
extend' to said clamping flaps; In each .of
said flaps are secured in this instance three male members 41 0f the snap fasteners, iand by: engaging the members of thesnap 'fastener's', the cushion "pads canbe adjustably and detachably" fastened iniplace to thestrap 20,:xs it requiresonly one pairof the fasteners at each end of the. cushion pad to hold-it in place andc'onsequently the positions'of said pads can be varied to different positions'of thestrap tosuit the user.
'A third cushion pad is; indicated inns en- 'tirety-by the numeral 45. It comprises a cover consistingof themembers 46 similar to 36, stitched together at their longitudinal edges47 and ends 48, forming a pocket with a flap 49 at one end thereof. A pair of male members 50 of snap fasteners extendfrom thefla-p 49 to engage the female members of the snap, fasteners behind and adjacent to the buckle 21.
In the modification shown in Figs. 4 and 5 the strap is again shown at 20. A cushion "pad comprises a cover'of leather or other suitable material consisting offthe flat verti cal member 56 and the semioval shaped memher 57. The said members are stitched to i 9 in the invention andthe present exemplifieach other at their longitudinal edges as in dicated at 58 and at their ends as indicated at 59 to form a pocket 60. At the ends of each flap are formed clamping flaps 61. Within each pocket 60 is located a flexible, elastic or yielding core 62 in this instance of sponge rubber. In this modification the'core, is in-' dicated as semioval in cross-section. The. ends of the core extend to said clamping v The flaps 61 are stitched to the strap flaps. 20 as indicated at 63. V a v It will be noted that instead of the sponge rubber and like material contained in the pads, inflated tubes similar to the air tubes a of automobile tires may be used. It will 7 7 also be. noted that when the pads are worn or destroyed, other pads may be connected to the strap. 7
Various other modifications may be made cation is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof. r
Having described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent'and claim is:
1. In a belt of the character described the combination of a strap, a plurality of cushion pads located adjacent tothe inner face of V the strap, each cushion pad comprising a cover forming a pocket with flaps formed at lts ends, members of snap fasteners in groups extending fromthe strap, a group of accompads located adjacent to the inner face of the strap, flaps formed at the ends of the pads, a plurality of members of snap fasteners extending from the strap, and a'plurality of accompanying members of the snap fasteners secured to each of said flaps, the coacting members of the fasteners adapted to engage each other to secure said pads in different 7 positions to the strap.
