Patented Jan. 12, 1932 warren STATES THADDEUS H. FARMER, OF OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA POSTER DISPLAY HOLDER. R FRAME Application filed April 3,
The present invention relates to a display holder or frame and has for its prime object to provide a holder or frame of this nature wherein a poster may be easily and quickly inserted therein or taken therefrom and wherein the poster will be held firmly in a smooth condition and thoroughly protected A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a holder or frame of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong anddurable, light, thoroughly eficient and reliable in use, easy to manipulate, compact and convenient in its arrangement of parts and OthQIWISG well adapted to the purpose for which it 1s designed.
With the above and numerous other obj ects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. 7
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device Figure 2 is a vertical section therethrough taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Fig ure 1 Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the backing plate with a poster thereon, and
Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view showing one corner of the plate.
Referring to the drawings in detail, numeral 5 denotes a rectangular frame, the bottom and sides of which have inner grooves 6 while the top is formed with an elongated slot 7. Numeral 8 denotes a rectangular transparent panel of glass or the like, the side and bottom edges of which are receivable in the grooves 6 and may be slid in place through the slot 7. Numeral 9 denotes a rectangular backing plate with a rail 10 mounted along the upper edges thereof and tapering downwardly in thickness as is clearly illustrated in Figure 2. Loops or handles 11 may beprovided on this rail 10. The numeral 12 denotes a poster of cardboard or 1931. Seriala... 527,514.
any other suitable material and is adapted to 'be'placed on the front face of the plate 9 and the upper end thereof is' extended through a transverselongitudinalslot 14in the rail 10 and clips'15 areen'gaged there- 7 The bottom end of 'theposter is folded under the bottom edge of the-plate over and'upwardly upon the back of the plate 5'and' clips 16 are engaged therewith.- The clips 15- and 16 are connected together by elastic bands 17 or the like. When'the poster is thus assembled on the backing plate, the backing plate and poster are, inserted into the frame through the slot 7 with the edges thereof and bottom end thereof disposed in the grooves 6 as will be quite apparent. The rail 10 sort of wedges itself in the slot thus holding the parts tightly assembled together to prevent rattling, the entrance of dust and the like.
It is thought that the construction,'utility, manipulation and advantages of this invention will now be quite'apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, in the sizes, shape, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A poster display holder of the class described including a frame the sides and one end of which are provided with interior grooves, the other end being provided with a slot, a backing plate. having a rail on the upper edge thereof, saidbacking plate being insertable through the slot to have its side and bottom edges disposed in said grooves,
said rail being formed with a longitudinally extending slot so that a poster plate on the front face of the backing plate may have its upper end located in said slot.
2. A poster display holder of the class described including a frame the sides and one end of which are provided With interior grooves, the other end being provided With a slot, a transparent panel insertable in the frame through the slot to have its sides and bottom edge located in said grooves, a back ing plate having a rail on the upper edge thereof, said backing plate being insertable through the slot to have its side and bottom edges disposed in said grooves, said rail being formed With a longitudinally extending slot so that a poster mounted on the front face thereof may have its upper end extended through said slot, a plurality of clips, a
plurality of bands connected to pairs of the clips, said clips adapted to engage the end of the poster inserted through the slot in the vrail and to engage the other end of the poster which is adapted to be folded under the lower edge of the backing plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
THADDEUS H. FARMER.
