RECORDS AND orrnnninnrrcnns Application filled May v16', 1928; Serial No My invention provides apparatus for the storage and indexing of disc records for phonographs and other articles and for selecting and delivering any one thereof without interfering with the others.

According hereto a rotatably mounted indexing cylinder carries a sheet of paper, or the like, upon which the titles of phonograph records or names of other'articles to be stored and delivered are indexed in circumferential columns.

In the case of phonograph discs having a record upon each side, both titles are used in juxtaposition. i

The cylinder has a longitudinal slot with wedges for securing the ends of the index paper therein, and is located within a cabinet or the like hc ving a window through which one of said titles or names is visible.

The discs are independently stored in a rowA of storage cells and in the same order as the titles upon the index.

Rotation of the vcylinder by means, such as hereinafter described, causes horizontal traverse of a selecting block carrying an ejector.

A suspended swing rail contacts when swung forward, with the ejector and causes it to push from its cell the particular disc record to which theejector is at'the time opposite.

The phonograph record discs 1 are stored one in each of the vertical storage cells 2 arranged in a horizontal row within the casing 3.

Referring more particularly to Fig. 4 the cylinder 4 has. a longitudinal slit 25 in which the ends of the index vlpaper 22` are wedged by,therubberwedges-23. Y .v V Y The mechanismf and parts are-.so proportioned and disposed-that when the indexy cylinder has been rotated suflicientlyf to; bring into view a particular title upon the index the selecting block has been simultaneously traversed the distance required to'bring the spring ejector opposite the cell containing the disc record corresponding with the title.

I claim 1. Apparatus for the purpose indicatedV comprising in combination a casing, vertical partitions dividing it into a plurality of cells adapted to contain phonograph records, an index cylinder disposed within the casing and adapted to bear the titles of said records, means for rotating the cylinder, a selecting et n block with means for traversing it coincidentally with the rotation of the cylinder whereby it may be brought into correspondence with any one of the cells, a spring ejector Afixed to the selecting block, and a swing rail hinged within the casing with means for'operating it whereby it may be brought into contact with said spring ejector as specified.

In apparatus for the purpose indicated the combination of a casing, vertical partitions dividing it into a plurality of cells adapted to contain phonograph records, an index cylinder disposed within the casing and adapted to bear the titles of said records, a toothed wheel upon the end of the cylinder, =a pinion in mesh therewith, a spur wheel rotatable with the pinion, a pinion in mesh with said spur wheel, a handle by which it is rotated, a second pinion in mesh with said spur wheel, a leading screw upon which the last mentioned pinion is fixed, a selecting block traversed by the rotation of the screw whereby it may be brought into correspondence with any one of the cells, an ejector liXed upon the selecting block and a swing rail hinged within the casing with means for operating it whereby it may be brought into contact with said ejector as specified.

In apparatus for the purpose indicated the combination of a casing, a rotatable index cylinder disposed therein and adapted to bear the titles of phonograph records, means Jfor rotating the cylinder, a selecting block, means for traversing said block coincidentally with the rotation of the cylinder, a spring ejector iXed upon the selecting block, a swing rail hinged to the casing and adapted when operated to Contact with the spring ejector, and means for operating said swin board as specified.

4. ELln apparatus for the purpose indicated in combination a casing, vertical partitions dividing it into a plurality of cells disposed in a row, a selecting block, means for traversing the block behind the cells, a spring ejector iixed upon the selecting block, a swing rail hinged to the casing and adapted when operated to Contact with the spring ejector and means for operating said board as specified.
