This invention relates to telephone apparatus, and has for its object to provide a prophylactic device adapted to be attached to a telephone transmitter, in order to avoid the direct contact of the speakers mouth with the transmitter mouth-piece. This is accomplished by means of the interposition of a sheet of sterilized paper between the mouth of the speaker and the telephone transmitter. In

this way the spread of disease infection is prevented.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for unrolling successive sheets of sterilized paper as the telephone is used.

In the drawings, 1 indicates the transmitter and 2 the receiver for a telephone apparatus 3 of the common type. To the mouthpiece 4 of the transmitter is attached a metallic frame of wire or metal sheet, shaped as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. This frame comprises two parts which are symmetrical on both sides of the axial line of the device. In the use of the telephone apparatus to which this device is adapted to be attached, whenever a person has finished his conver' sation, and another person is to speak, the latter should change that part of the paper sheet 19 covering the mouth-piece 4, and through which part the voice is transmitted, by unrolling a suitable length of the paper sheet 19 and sliding the same across the frame, and cutting the remaining portion formerly used, by means of the knife 21, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

What I claim is:

1. A prophylactic device for telephone apparatus, comprising a metallic frame divided in two parts of symmetrical shape at both sides of the axial lineof the frame and which parts are capable of yielding to and from each other, the central portions of the frame forming a circular opening through which said central portions are adapted to set between the mouth-piece and the threaded flange of the telephone apparatus holding said mouth-piece, spaced and aligned pivot- 5 pins provided at an end of the frame, a roll.

A prophylactic device for telephone apparatus, comprising a metallic frame divided in two parts of symmetrical shape at both sides of the axial line of the frame and which parts are capable of yielding to and from each other, the central portions of the frame forming a circular openin through which said central portions are adapted to set between the mouth-piece and the threaded flangeaof the telephone apparatus holding said mouth-piece, spaced and aligned pivotpins provided at an end of the frame, a roll of aseptic paper detachably mounted on said aligned pivot-pins, a frame carried at the other end of the first frame to serve as a guide for the unrolled sheet of paper so that it may remain lain out before the transmitter mouthpiece, a spring sheet connected to the first rame and which by its free end may rest against the endless roll of paper, a plate bent "in right angle and rigidly connected to the central portion of the second frame and whose free portion shows its edge provided with sharpened teeth, and a spring sheet con nected to the second frame and which by its free end holds the sheet of paper resting against the sharp-edge plate.
