Description

Jan. 5, 1932.
F. J. KELLERMEIER COMBINED PHOTO FOLDER AND SUPPORT Filed Sept. 18, 1951 Patented Jan. 5 1932' UNITED STATES PATENT oFFIcE FREDERICK J. KELLERMEIER, F TOLEDO, OHIO, ASSIGNOR'TO THE GROSS PHOTO, SUPPLY COMPANY, OF TOLEDO, OHIO A CORPGRATION 0F OHIG CQMBINED rno'ro FO DER AND stir-roar,
Application filed September 18, 1331. sei iaino. 563,580.
This invention relates to photographic supplies, and particularly to an improved folder and support for photographs.
The object of the invention is the provision of an improved folder and support for photograph mounts, which is simple and inexpensive in construction, adapted to serve both as folder for a photograph and as an easel or support for holding the photograph and its mount in upright display position.
While the invention in its broader'aspect is capable of embodiment in different forms, a modified embodiment thereof is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a folder and support in folded relation to a photograph, Fig. 2 is a similar view with the front panel of the folder dropped down, and Fig.
3 is a similar view with the folder disposed in photo mount-supporting and displaying position.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a mounting card for a photograph 2, the card being in the present instance, and customarily, of rectangular form.
The combination folder and support 3 cmbodying the invention preferably comprises a singlestrip of stiff cardboard-like material doubled upon itself to provide substantially m duplicate front and rear panels 4 and 5,
hinged together along a fold line 6 at the lower edge of the mount 1, and each beingsubstantially the shape and size of the mount so that it may be entirely enclosed therebetween.
The back panel 5 of the folder is divided into upper and lower sections a and 6 connected by a transverse weakened or fold line 0 formed, for instance, by scoring, and disposed, in the present case, above the cross center line of the mount 1. The upper section a is cemented, or otherwise suit-ably secured,
in flat position to the upper portion of the V mount back, and this forms the only attachment of the folder to the mount; The lower section b is swingable rearwardly from the mount.
The front panel 1 is divided by across weakened or hinged line 613 into a lower section 6, and the upper section 7, the Vertical length of the section 0, being preferably slightly shorter than the 560131011 7). The section 5 is adapted to be swung back a sufficient distance from tne mount to permit the section f to be insertedupwardly between the sec tion I) and'mount in flat coasting relation to the rear side of the mount, with its free edge in stop-coaction with the section b substantially at its fold line 0, and with section 6 spacing the lower edges of the sections 6 and f apart and projecting rearwardly from the lower edgeportion of the mount.
. -The sections 6, e and when disposed in -mount-supportmg position, as shown in full lines 111 Fig. 3, form a triangle with the section 6 as its base and the sections Z2 and f as its sides. The section b inclines slightly rearwardly from a vertical. with respect to the base section 6, so as to permit the mount to stand slightlyona rearward incline when the'base section eis insubstantially hori zontal position, and the'rear section Z) assumes a downward and inward incline with respect to the mount, so as to brace the latter against. rearward tipping.
It is apparent that the folder may be easily and quickly manipulated to place the sections 6, e and f thereof in mount-supporting position, as shown in Fig. 3, or to dispose the same'in mol'lnt-closing position, as shown in Fig. 1, when it is not desired to dispose the mount invphoto displaying position.
I wish it understood that the invention is not limited to any specific construction or form of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications and changes without departing from the spirit of the claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. In combination, a photo mount, a combination folder and support for the mount comprising front and rear panels hinged together along the lower edge of the mount, the rear panel having an upper section secured to the upper rear portion of the mount and a rearwardly swingable lower section, and the front panel including hingedlyconnected lowerand upper sections adapted to be placed in front of the mount in folded relation thereto or in the rear of the mount in supporting relation thereto With the lower section of the rear panel and the lower and upper sections of the front panel forming a triangular support for the mount.
2. ,In combination, a photograph mount and a combination folder and support for the mount, comprising front and back panels for relation to the mount and also in supporting relation thereto with the sections in triangular relation and disposed at the rear of the mount.
3. In combination, a'photograph mount of card form, a foldable support for the mount comprising three successively disposed hingedly connected sections with one section hingedly connected to the rear side of the mount above its lower edge, and with the other sections adapted to be disposed at the front of the mount in parallel relation thereto, said sections being adapted to be placed in triangular mount-supporting relation at the rear of the mount with one front section disposed between the mount and the rear section, and V with the other front section spacing the lower edges of the two sections which it connects. In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name to this speclficatlon.
FREDERICK J. KELLERMEIER.
