This invention relates to containers. Birthday candle holders are being made of sugar and other material cast or molded about a helical wire having a protruding end which is thrust into the cake and supports the candle holder. These candle holders are easily soiled, broken or otherwise injured.
These difiiculties present a roblem in transportation, handling and sel ing. to One of the objects of this invention is to provide a container for the sale and distribution of candle holders or other articles. A
further object of the invention is to provide a container that will protect the ar icle and permit of its being seen. A still further object of the invention is to provide a container for a relatively small number of articles which can be sold as a unit. Another object of the invention is to provide a satisfactory 2 container of relatively low cost.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a con tainer embodying the principles of my invention.
Figure 2 is a plan View of the inner supporting member.

-In carrying out my invention I provide a cardboard sheet 1 cut as indicated in Figconnected by a strip 5. Rectan ular portion 3 has cylindrical holes 6 punche or out therein. These holes form the seats for the flower portion 14 of the candle holder. Rectangular portion 4 has centrally thereof slots forming Hs. Tab 2 is bent downwardly at rightangles to rectangular portion 3. The rectangular portion 3 has likewise the part 3, 3", extending to line 7 bent down at right angles and the part extending to line 8 bent down at right angles. The side portion 4' is bent along the line 12 at right angles upwardly and the side portion 4 is bent upwardly along the line 13 of rectangular portion 4 and the tabs 2 and 2' are interlocked forming a supporting body ascan be seen in Figures 3 and 4. The andle holders 14 can then be inserted in openings 6 with their stems 15 pressed through the cross bar 16 of the slotted H of the bottom portion 4. The slotted H grips the stem 15 to hold it frictionally. A covering of transparent material 17 is then'placed over the portion 1 containing the candle holders and is frictionally held in position between the supporting body and a surrounding rectangular container 18 which has no top or bottom. Rectangular container 18 is of suflicient height to extend above the candle holders 14 with their covering 17 to protect them, but having no top permits of viewing the contents.
This container permits of the shipping of candle holders without breakage, the visibility of the product to the Storekeeper and purchaser wh1le at the same time preserving the contents from dirt and breakage. In addition the container holding only a relatively few of the articles to be sold can be sold as a unit thereby obviating a great deal of handling and enables-the purchaser to rocure Although fresh articles in proper condition. I have shown the container for use in con nection with candle holders, I do not desire it to be limited to the use for this article alone.
What I claim is: 1. A container comprising a rectangular casing without a top or bottom surrounding a supporting body, said supporting body having two tiers, the upper of said tiers having circular holes therein and'the lower of said tiers having H slots under and in alignment with each of said circular holes. 2. A container comprising a rectangular casing and an article supporting body Within said casing, said article supporting body formed from a flat sheet of cutout material and comprising two tabs at each end adapted to interlock, one of said tabs connected to and adjacent a rectangular portion having bent down side pieces, an intermediate strip connecting said rectangular portion with a second rectangular portion, said second rectangular portion having bent down sides and H slots cut in said second rectangular portion, the second tab connected to said second rectangular portion, the second rectangular portion being directly under said first rectangular portion in spaced relationship.

A container comprising a rectangular casing and an article supporting body with in said casing, said article supporting body formed from a fiat sheet of cutout material and comprising two tabs at each end adapted to interlock, one of said tabs connected to and adjacent a rectangular portion having bent down side pieces and holes cut in said rectangular portion, an intermediate strip connecting said rectangular portion with a second rectangular portion, said second rectangular portion having bent down sides and H slots cut in said second rectangular portion, the second tab connected to said second rectangular portion, the second rectangular portion being directly under said first rec.- tangular portion in spaced relationship, said article supporting body supported frictionally within said casing.
4. A container comprising a casing Without top or bottom, an article supporting body within said casing, said article supporting body having an upper portion and a lower portion in spaced relationship, holes in the upper portion for seats for the article and H slots in the lower portion to hold the stems of the article.
