This invention relates to improvements in nets, and particularly landing nets for fishng, but is also applicable to butterfly nets,

An object of the invention is to provide a simple and eflicient folding net of this character.
A further object of the invention is to pro- ,vide a folding'net in which the metal supporting frame of the net will assume the desired shape without auxiliary'shaping attachments. 1
A further object of the invention is to provide a net of this character in which the net frame is very durable, particularly at the points of greatest strain.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple form of folding net which may be manufactured at low cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists essentially of a net frame formed in two flexible sections hingedly connected together with the'provision of two .folding handle members in pivotal and folding connection with the pivotal supports of the net frame, as more fully described in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form part of the same. 1

' Referring more particularly to the drawings. A indicates the device as a whole comprising the handle members 10 and 11 and the net supporting frame B including the supporting members 13 and 14. The supporting members are made of flexible material,

This. structure of boxing may, of course, be altered according to requirements but this form is preferable, being made up from the blank as illustratedin Fig. -6.

It will be noted from the drawings that the supporting members when in opened normal position assume a substantially ovoid shape in combination, which is the most desirable torm tor a net of this character and due to the fact that the supporting members 13 and 14 are tapered towards their outer ends, extreme flexibility will exist at the outer ends, permitting the rounded form when the supports are in normal position, while the inner ends are of such character as to form a strong rigid support at the point where the most strain is encountered, i. e. at the joining of the supports with the handle.
It will be of course understood that the supporting members are made up preferably of flexible spring steel and it may be readily seen that a structure of this character is very efficient and may be manufacturedwithout Various modifications may be made in this invention without departing from the spirit thereof or the scope of the claims, and therefore the exact forms shown are to be taken as illustrative only and not in a limiting sense, and it is desired. that only such limitations shall be placed thereon as are disclosed in the prior art or are set forth in the accompanying claims.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is:
1, A folding net of the character described comprising hinge members pivotally secured together, a pair of tapered net supporting members rigidly secured at their enlarged ends to hinge members and loosely connected together at their smaller ends, handle members pivotally secured to the hinge members and independently movable with respect thereto, and bearing tacos termed on said hinge members adapted to limit the independent movement of the handles whereby on oppositely swinging the handles the net may be opened or folded through contact of the bandles with the bearing surfaces.
2. In a net structure of the character described including net supporting members and handles, hinge members comprising a casing formed with enclosed walls and an opening along one side thereof, said casings being pivotally connectnl together and, adapt a lo nnllv nlnn all running lllllllllll't and pivotally retain said'handles. hwitness whereof I have hereunto set my CHARLES MORRISON YOUNG.
