Description

Dec. 1, 1931. F. F. PALMORE KEY RING HOOK Filed July 50. 1931 away Wot i7 1 Hdm ore Patented Dec. 1, 1931* UNITED STA c. nonmvrs, .13., F RUSH fsr'nmes, OKLAHOMA KEY mnenoox Application filed July 30,
This invention relates to key ring hooks, and more particularly to a device of this klnd which may be readily mounted on a belt or other support.
An object of this invention is to provide a device of this kind which is so constructed that the key ring may be readily mounted on the device and when mounted thereupon, will not become lost. 1 I
7 Another object of this invention is to provide a novel locking means for locking the key ring on the device and maintainin the key ring in the desired position on the body of the wearer.
A further object of this invention is to provide resilient means for resiliently securing the device to a belt or other fiat support, this resilient means limiting the movement of the key ring on the device. 1
The above and various other objects and advantages of this invention will in part be described in and in part be understood from the following detailed description of the present preferred embodiment, the same being illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein p Figure 1 is a detail front elevation of a device constructed according to the preferred embodiment of this invention in applied position;
Figure 2 is a detail side elevation of the device partly in section showing the method of inserting the belt within the holder;
Figure 3 isa detail side elevation partly 3 in section showing the method of inserting the keyring within the device after the belt has been mounted therein, and 5 I F iguree is a detail side'elevation part1 in section showing both the belt and the key 4 ring mounted within the holder.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 resignates generally aflat belt or I support of desired width whichmay-be worn 1931. Serial No. 554,139.
nates an elongated fiat plate having one end 13 thereof. free, this free end being disposed downwardly: The upperend- 12 of the plate 11 is bent in looped form and continued FREDERICK F. PALMORE, oF'EL'nEno, oxranominssienoa on Orin-1min ip'o'DA'vm 3 byj anoindividual, ad the numeral 11; desiged to removably receive a keyringl'? and 7 support this key ring in desired location on thebelt 1Q. 1 p 7 A second plate 18 is disposed inwardly of the outer extension" 14 and is provided with a U shaped upper, end portion 19- which has the free leg thereof-secured to theupperend of the rearLOr inner plate :11 by means of a rivet 20 or'thedike; jThis inner platels closely'engages againstthe inner face of the extension 14 and the u shaped upper; portion 19 followsthe configuration of the looped portion 12, The lower end of this plate;18ehas an extension 21;disposedbetween the outer plate 14:3andthe inner plate 11 and this ex; tension 21 is positioned upwardly of the free end16of the U-shapedmember'15, v 1 The, inner end ofthis extension Qlresilien tly engages against the outer face of the inner plate-member 11 and actsto limit the upward movement of the key ring 17 not I only during the mounting of the; keyring on the ring supporting member :15 butalso dur ing the time lthatthe device is positioned on the be-lt 10.. i f I Q In the use of this device, the key'iring'li may be mounted on; the. ring supporting member v15 by disposinguthe ring between the lower end 13 of the inner plate 11 and the outer surface of th e ring supporting 11113111 ber 15 adjacentthe lower end 13 0f the inner plate 11. The ring 17 maybe moved 'up{ wardly between the free leg 16 matte lower end portion 13, thereby forcing the outer plate 11 outwardly until the the ring 17 passes the upper end of the inner leg 16 whereupon the inherent resiliency of the outer plate 14 will spring the ring supporting member 15 inwardly toward the inner plate 11, thereby locking the ring 17 on the ring supporting member 15. During the mounting of the ring 17 on the supporting member 15, the belt engaging member 18 will remain into engagement with the belt 10, this belt engaging member 18 being free of the outer plate 14. As thering 17 is moved upwardly betweenthe plate 11 and the inner surface of the leg 16, the stop member 21 will limit the upward movement of the ring 17 so that it will be retained within the ring supporting member 15 after it has passed the upper end of the inner leg 16.
In order to mount the belt 10 on the device,
this belt 10 may be passed through the loop formedby theinner. plate 11 and the plate member 16 or the belt may be inserted bemember 21 will resiliently engage the oute surface of the inner plate 11.
It will be obvious, from the foregoing, that when the key ring 17 has once been mounted on the device herein disclosed, it will be firmly locked and will be retained within the ring supporting member 15, due to the inherent resiliency of this plate 14 in constantly maintaining the ring su porting member 15 into engagement with t e inner or body plate member 11.
It is, of course, understood that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and design of the above specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof,'such changes and modifications being restricted only by the scope of the following claim.
I claim A key ring holder of the character described comprising an inner plate, an outer plate formed with said inner plate and disposed in spaced relation thereto, a U-shaped ring supporting member formed with one end of said outer plate and having one leg thereof resiliently engaging the outer face of said inner plate, and an L-shaped belt engaging member disposed between said inner and said outer plates and having one leg thereof extending transversely of said inner and said outer plates, the opposite leg of said L-shaped member being looped at the upper end and engaging the inner face of said outer plate, outward movement of said L-shaped member coactively moving said.
