IMPROVEMENT IN HAT AND CLOTHES RACKS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,261, dated October 17, 1876 application filed February 5, 1876.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ISAAO W. HEYSINGER,

of Philadelphia, in the county ofPhiladelphia,

State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Portable Clothes and Hat Racks, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, referencebein g had to the drawing accompanying and forming part of this specification.

As will be seen from the drawing, which is a perspective view of the invention in question, it consists in a series of suitably-shaped hooks, A B O D E F G, each one of which is so arranged as to under-hang those above it in the series, so that numerous articles of wearing -apparel, or other articles, may be hung thereupon without confusion or liability of falling. In the same vertical plane in which lie these hooks, and above their general level, at the rear, is placed in the back plate aslot, K, by which the Whole may be hung on a suitable nail against a wall or similar surface. This opening K is made smaller at its upper portion, so that, while the larger part below may pass freely over the head of a nail when the hook is being suspended, afterward it will be prevented from slipping over the said nailplane surface.

In this manner is produced a very convenient and portable article of considerable use to tourists, travelers, watering-place yisitors, occupants of hotels or boarding-houses, 850., which may be thrown into a trunk, or carried in the pocket, to be used as occasion may require.
