HANGER FOR CONCREIE CONSTRUCTION FORMS Filed Sept. '24, 1922 I ll 2 I EH! I in A TTORNE Y.

Patented Nov. 3-, 1931 OFFICE.
HORACE M. wooLLEY, an, or senernencrsoo; CALIFORNIA HANGER ron. comaempeaem cmn roams I i r a plication filed September 24,3928. s ri l ire. senses.
This invention relates to improvements in hangers for forms employedin "the-support of concrete floors during theirformatlonor pouring.
The objects of this invention are the provision of cheaply constructed cooperating parts adapted ,for ready assembly with the supporting beam and soflit forms to provld'e,
without the usual ma'ze of loose wires, 21'
strong supporting frame for the floor slab of a concretefloor structure; to provide parts which are capable of easy separation when it is desired to remove the soflit forms after the floor structure has set; to provide a spacer bracket, its use ensuring a uniform space 7 form support, the construction of which overcomes the necessity of drilling bolt apertures,
andwhich is adapted for usein each assemblv and removed therefrom onthe disassembly of the parts after the'floor has set; and to provide a means for precluding the hanger brackets from spreading from their posltlon of normal holding relation.
With the above mentioned and other'ob- 'jects in view, the invention oonsistsin the novel construction andfcombination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out 111 the claims hereto appended it being understood that various changes in the-form,-proportion,
- size and minor details of construction Within J the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrifici'ng any of the advantages of the invention.
' the beam.
Fig. 2 is a section online 2+2 of 1.
Fig. 3 is a view in plan of the disclosure in Fig.1 with both hanger bracket nut locks 1n operative position.
i i Referring tothe several views of the draw ings whe'reinlike characters of referencedes-- ig'n'ate corresponding parts,1 indicates a supporting -"I"-'beam. 2 are the sofiit' boards 'sus pende'd" b'eneatli theI-bearn in a hereinafter described manner for supporting the concrete mix until the same sets forming a floor; Extending transversely beneath the soflit boards, at right angles tothe I-beam is a soffit cleat 3, consisting of a pair of angle members 4 disposed with opposing faces of corresponding membersfin parallel spaced relation afi'ording a slot 5 therebetween. 'The members are held in j cooperating relation by fastening means G'Which mount between the opposing faces spacer washers'T, ensuring the uniformty of slot 5 throughout the length of menibers4.-.-' Members 4 are detachably secured to the under faces of soffit boards 2 by nails or other fastening devicesS; Spacer brackets 8' are disposed 'in parallel end to end alignment on: the upper surface of the sofiit'b oards 2 overlying the soflit'cleat 3,and are positioned with their opposing ends in spaced relation. Spacer brackets8 are of channel construction with' the upp'er flange 9 contacting with the underside of the I-beam flange near one edge and the lower'fiange 10'resting on the upper surface of'a soflitlboard to which it-isisecured byattaching-nieans such as nails "1l;passing'through openings in the flange. Thetop; andrbottom flanges 9 and 10 are provided with: aligned apertures through which extend therespective shanks 12 and 13 of theihanger bracketi nut "14 and the hanger -=bracket- -bolt1 15, the latter also passing through bored holes in the sofiit boards 2.
he'n assembledand extending toward each other through the spacer bracket flange openings, andwitli the shank of bolt 15 extending through slot 5 the shanks are inthreaded relation to enable the curved upper supporting end 16 of nut 14 to be drawn tightly onto the surface of I beam flange with the head of the bolt 15 hearing tightly against the edge of the soflit cleat slot.
To look the nut 14 from rotating, the upper flanges 9 are severed for a portion of the bolts are unthreaded from their nuts 14 length from the brackets 8 and said severed portions are longitudinally slotted providing fingers 17 bendable upwardly one to lie on each-side of the" supporting end 16 as in the drawings. The spacer brackets 8 are perforated at 18 to admit of theconcrete passing therethrough and creating abond therewith.
It will be observed that with the floor supporting form hung in the manner illustrated U and described that the concrete will be adequately, supported during its; laying, tamping and curing. When the floor has set, the
which releases the hanger brackets 24' for stripping from the soffit boards, and the soifit boardsQ in turn from the. under surface of the floor. Brackets 8 and nuts 14-remainim bedded in the floor and the ends of nails'llj;
projectingfromthe floor may be clipped ofl".
[The spacerbrackets 8 are of a dimension that the outerends-thereof, when the bracket v isproperly hung, lies a distance from the Q Lbeam to enable the end of the spacer tobe used as astop.
I claim V 1 r g 'i 1. A hanger for concrete construction forms, comprisinga flanged spacer bracket provided with aligned apertures through, its flanges and having, fingerportions formed by alongitudinal slot in one flange, anda hanger bracket'for reception within said aligned apert-nres, said finger portions beingadapted't fixedly position the hanger bracket.
2. A hanger for concrete construction forms comprising aspacer bracket provided with parallel flanges extending laterally therefrom, one of said flanges being free from the body for a portion of its'length'and proingithrough the, flange aperture, fsai'd fingers vided with an aperture, and: the free portion vbeing slotted inwardly'from its end PI'OVid:
ingj spaced fingers, a hangeribracket extendadapted for bending, to lie'one at each side of'saidhanger bracket. I
for positioning' with a web portionthereof vertically disposed, saidfspacerprovided at an edge thereof with a horizontal: flange 'hav- 'ing an aperture therethrough', a; hanger brackets for reception within said aperture,
saidspacer bracketbeing provided witlijfin- 'ger members adapted-for fixedly positioning the hanger'membe'r. s v
In testimony whereof; I have signed my name to this specification; I HORACE 1M. fWOOLLEY, JR.
3. [A hanger for concrete construction forms, comprls ng a flanged'spa'cer bracket
