At the end of the shaft 21 is mounted a sprocket 22 operated by a sprocket chain 23 from a lower sprocket 24, mounted on a shaft-25, upon the outer end of which is mounted an operating wheel 26, provided with a handle 27. The several sprockets and gears are proportioned so that one and'one-half turns of the. operating wheel 26 effect a longltudinal movement of the act-n doors, connected thereto by thelocking pin orpins14, from closed to open position, or vice-versa. A hand wheel 30 (Figs. 89), designated as the small hand wheel, is mounted on a shaft 31, to the opposite endof which is attached a sprocket 32 operating a chain 33 which, in turn, operates an upper sprocket 34 on the end'of the shaft 35 (Figs. 1, 1A, 8 and 9). , Referring to Figs. 3, 4 and 5, a latch operatingplate is mounted for vertical movement on guide pins 51 and 52' and is provided witha finger 53 positioned to engage a latch 54, pivotally mounted at 55 upon a carrier 56, which is pivotally mounted at 57 and provided; with a second finger 58 positioned to be engaged by aco-operating finger 59 on the locking member 38, the operation of which will be explained.

' To lock the doors when closed, the hand wheel 30 is rotated to the left to bring the letter L=to the top and then to bring the letter D to the top, which moves the parts from the position shown in Fig. 3 to that shown in Fig. 4, in which position the locking dogs 42 are engaged in the slots 16 and the locking pins 14 are raised out of engagement therewith.
To operate any single door, bring the dial 1;. Wheel 69 (Figs. 8 and 9) to position with the 64 and 63, and control disk 60 (Fig. 4) bringing the notch 61 on the disk 60 for the desired door under the pointed end of the latch 54, which drops into this notch, as indicated in dotted outline in Fig. 4.
