Description

UNITED lSTATES PATENT OEEIGE.
.ADAM SGHUETZ, OF GARONDEIJET, MISSOURI.
IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.V
Specificationforming part of Letters Patent No. 182,862, dated October 3, 1876; application led i June 26, 1876.
i To all whom it may concern fGarondelet, in the county of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plows, of which the following is a specilication:
Figure l is a side view of my improved plow, partly in section, to show the construction. Fig. 2 is a rear View ofthe same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. The object of this invention is to furnish an improved plow for forming ridges for planting sweet potatoes, and which may be easily adjusted to adapt it for any of the uses of an ordinary plow.
The invention will rst be described in connection with the drawing, and then pointed out in claim.
A is the beam, B are the handles, C is the standard, and D is the brace, of the plow, about the construction of which parts there is nothing new. E is a shovel, which is attached to the lower end of the standard C in the of the mold-boards F are bolted to the ends of a bow, G, which is supported by the standard O. The rear parts of the mold-boards F are supported against inward pressure by a crossbrace, H, the ends of which are secured to said mold-boards F. The mold-boards F are made long and high, so that they may throw up the adjacent sides of two ridges at each passage across the field. To the point of' the shovel E is secured the forward end of a bar, I, which passes back nearly to the rear ends of the mold-boards F, is then bent upward at right angles, and its upper end is secured to the standard C by a bolt and hand-nut, J. Several holes are formed in the upper part ofthe bar I, to receive the bolt J, so that the said bar may be adjusted to cause the plow to work deeper or shallower in the ground, as may be desired. rlhe bar I also serves as a foot to Vcause the plow to run steadier, and enable it
