The s amping B omprises 1a downwa dly; opening channel 2- and-a fia portion 26 extending laterally mm o sid of the channel portion at .the ,lower edges '85; thereof; Theriyet 5G extends through the 7 ample, such clips may be interchangeably 95,
used on the frontand rear walls ofthe case by merelyswingingthe channel portion 2-5-to the proper position to receive -.th.e-pantition 7.
As shown, the laterally spaced channels 19 and 20. of thecclipe9 lreeeive the upperedges J 0 of the lights 1 and 2 at the meeting edges thereof, while the channel 25 receives the upper edge of the partition 7. However, as the channel portions 19 and 20 are in alignment such portions may receive the upper edge of a single upright light 30 intermediate its ends (Figure 6) and the channel 25 may be shifte'd'to right or left of the L-shaped portion 24 to receive the upper edges of a transversely extending partition such as 31. Thus the clip is capable of use at the meeting edges or intermediate the edges of the upright lights. Moreover, such a clip may be used at a corner of a case to hold the lights 1, 5 and 8. As shown in Figure 5, the channel 19 has been cutoff from the base 18 and the channel25 has been-swung to the left 6f the L-shaped portion 24. In Figure 7 the channel has been cut off and the channel has been swung to the right of the L-shaped portion 24. It is also apparent from Figure 8 that the stamping A alone may be used to unite adjacent upright lights 33 and 34 and a horizontal light 35, or as illustrated in Figure 9, may be used intermediate the ends of the upright light to unite the latter and a top light 41. The tie rods 15, 16 and 17 are identical in construction and each preferably comprises two sections D and E connected at their in ner ends by a turnbuckle F and having depending hook portions 42 and 43 for engagement with the tubular rivets C. Thus when the parts are assembledthe rods serve as braces between the front and rear walls of the case. Due to the construction and arrangement of the lateral and L-shaped por- "tions 26 and 24: respectively and of the rivets C and tie rods, the hook portions l2 and 43 have a swivel connection with the clips and will be held by the top light 8 against accidental displacement from the rivets. Thus sufficient play is provided between the rods and clips to prevent the clips from rocking upon the lights when the turnbuckles are adjusted. Shouldthe clips be used without the L-shaped portions 24 and stampings B, as illustrated in Figure 10, a short plate may be welded to the base 18 and may be provided with a suitable opening 51 for receiving hooked portions of the tierods.
W hiie it is believed that from the foregoing description thenature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described andthat such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall Within the scope of what is claimed.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A clip of the class described formed of 'only two stampings, swivelly connected toi gether, one of said stampings having a base for supporting a show case light and provided at certain edges of the base with means for holding show ca se lights, the other stamping also having means for holding a show case light.
2. In a show case construction, the combination with top, end and front lights, of a clip at the juncture thereof comprising a member extending beneath said top light and having a return-bent end portion engaging said top light, an integral depending U- shaped portion engaging the edge of said front light, and a U shaped member pivotally "'5 connected to said first member and engaging the edge of said end light.
3. In a show case construction, the combination Withupright lights arranged at substantial right angles to one another and a top light, of a clip at the juncture. thereof comprising a member extending beneath said top light and having a return-bent end portion engaging the edge of said top light, a U-shaped member pivotally connected to the other end of said first member and engaging the edge of one of said upright lights, and
a depending U-shaped member arranged intermediate the ends of said first member and integral therewith and engaging the edge of the other upright light. 1
4:. In a show case construction, the combination with a pair of upright lights arranged edge to edge, an upright lightcarranged at a substantial right angle'thereto' and a top light, of a clip at the juncture thereof comprising a member extending beneath said top light and having a returnbent end portion engaging the edge of said top light, a pair of depending U-shaped members upon opposite sides of said first member and integral therewith and engaging the edges of said pair of upright lights, and a U-shaped member pivotally connected-to said first member and engaging the edge of said-""1 5 other upright light.
5. In a show case construction, the.combination with upright lights arranged at substantial right angles to one another, and a top light, of a clip at the juncture thereof 1 comprising a member extending beneath said top light and having a return-bent end portion engaging the edge of said top light, means intermediate the ends of said first member for engaging the edge of one of saidT-i upright lights, said first mentioned member having its other end arranged below the general plane of said member, and ayU-shaped member pivotally connected to the said end of said first member and engaging the edgeim of the other upright light, the top edges of said upright lights being in the same plane.
6. In a show case constructiomthe combination wit-h top, transverse and front lights, of a clip at the juncture thereof comprising 1 a member extending beneath said top light and having a return-bent end portion engaging the edge of said top light, a depending U-shaped portion engaging the edge of said front light, and av U-shaped member pivotally "Q connected to the other end of said first memher and engaging the edge of said transverse light, the pivotal connection between said first member and U-shaped member being provided with an opening extending axially therethrough for receiving a portion of atie member.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
