This invention relates to an improved cuspidor for use by invalids, and has more particular reference to a portable device, which may be arranged in close proximity to a bed or the like, whereby to permit it to be utilized with facility and freedom by the occupant of the bed in either a reclining or sitting position; a I
- Briefly stated, the structure is characterized by a portable stand, a two-way conduit for circulating and return of water, an adjustable support for the conduits associated with the stand, and a suitably designed and appropriately fashioned head structure, against which the mouth of the patient is placed when spitting, vomiting or the llke.
These specific structural details and their relative arrangement and association will become more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the drawings Figure 1 is an elevational view of a portable cuspidor device, constructed in accordance with the present invention and showing the manner in which it is associated with a bed.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 22 of Figure 1.

In the drawings, in Figurev 1, the reference character 7 merely designates the bed which is illustrated to show the approximate disposition of the improved cuspi dor structure. The improved structure comprises a portable stand 8. This is provided with casters or rollers 9 attached to the lower ends of the supporting legs 10. The legs are fastened at their upper ends to an inverted pan-shaped top 11. This top has a central opening and associated therewith is a riveted guide block 12, of general circular configuration. This is formed with a pair of vertical guide holes, one of which serves to accommodate the cylindrical casing 13 and the other of which accommodates the sleeve 14. The parts 13 and 1 1 are fastened together as a unit. The part 14 is open ended and held in adjusted position through the medium of the set screw 15. The part 13 is in the nature of a cylinder and held in adjusted position through the medium of the screw 16. A water supply pipe 17 constituting apart of the return portion of the conduit is mounted foradjustmentin the sleeve 14. A spaced parallel pipe 18 extends slidably through the opposite capped end of the cylindrical casing 13.
That portion of the pipe within the casing is provided with a shoulder forming washer 19, against which one end of a coil spring 20 is placed. The opposite end of the spring bears against the lower cap. Hose elements 21 and 22 respectively are connected with these pipes 17 and 18 to supply and return the circulating system of water. Attached to the upper ends of the pipes 17 and 18 are horizontal branches 23 and 24, respectively, adjoined together. Each branch is formed with a terminal stufling box 25.
The improved head unit comprises an especially designed hollow casing or bowl 26, and spaced parallel pipes 27 and 28, having their flanged inner ends mounted for telescopic sliding within the branches 23 and The pipe 27 is provided with a control valve 29 and this permits the entire unit to he slid back and forth with respect to the sections 23 and 24: and also permits the circulating water to be regulated through the medium of the valve. The receptacle 26 comprises a hollow casing of semi-cylindrical cross sectional shape as represented in Figure 1, having an annular circulating channel 30 formed therein from a central over-flow depression 31, and a suitable outlet nipple 32.

Essentially, the support comprises a portable stand. and a vertical mounting (parts 13 and 14) mounted for vertical adjustment thereon. Secondly, it comprises the conduit unit, which is yieldably suspended in the mount ing, as we l as turuahle with respect thereto. The conduit is characterized by the teed and return port ms which are oined through the medium o'ii pipes 2'? and 28 to the head structure, which is individualized by the presence therein oi" the receptacle 26. The head unit is adjustable in a horizontal plane through the telescopic connections of the pipes 27 and with the branches and 24:.
Thus the conduit embodies the intercommunicating sections t. 2' feed and return of the vertical portions which are yieldably suspended in the adjust-able mounting on the stand. and a structure which is extensible in a horizontal plane.
Although I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention it is to be understood that various changes in the shape, size and gements or" parts may he resorted to, without departin from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

In a structure oi? the class described, a wheel supported stand includinga plurality of suspen. n and a top attached to said legs, a disc-like n 301 fastened on said top and provided with vertical guide holes, and set screws projecting into said guide holes, a mounting including portions adjustable through said guide holes. and a circulating conduit embodying pipine having portions mounted for adjustment in said mounting, the conduit mounting being bodily adjustable as a single unit. and the conduit being individually adjustable with respect to the mounting when the latter is in fixed position on said disc.
2. In a structure of the class described, :1. portable stand including top, a disc mounted on said top and having a pair of vertical guide holes. and set screws projecting into said, holes, a mounting embodying an open ended tube slidable in one hole, and a casino; attached tosaid tube and slidable throw 1 the remaining hole, and a circulating novice including pipes mounted for sliding adjustment in the tube and casing respectively, that pipe in the casing being formed with a stop collar, and a spring surrounding the last named pipe and engaging the collar at one end and resting at its opposite end against the adjacent end portion of the casing, so as to yieldably suspend the circulating device from said mounting.

In a structure of: the class described, a stand comprising roller equipped legs and a top plate connected thereto, said top plate being formed with central openings, a disc like collar attached to said top plate and spanning said central opening, said collar being formed with a pair oi? vertical guide holes, set screws carried by the collar and projecting at their inner ends into said guide holes, and a conduit mounting comprising an open ended tube slidable through. said one guide hole, and a closed ended cylinder attached to said tube and slidable through the remaining guide hole.

In a structure oi? the class described. a stand comprising roller equipped legs and a top plate connected thereto, said top plate being formed with central openings, a disc like column attached to said top plate and spanning said central. opening, said collar aeing formed with a pair of vertical. guide holes, set screws carried by the collar and projecting at their inner ends into said guide holes, and a conduit mounting comprising an open ended tube slidable through said one guide hole, and a closed ended cylinder attached to said tube and slidable through the remaining guide holes, together with spring suspension means in said cylinder for use in association with a complemental part oi an adjustable water circulating conduit device.
5. In a structure of the class described, a stand including a top provided with guide holes, a mounting embodying an open-ended tube slidable in one hole and a casin g attached to said tube and slidable through the remaining holes, and a circulating device including pipes mounted for sliding adjustment in the tube and casing respectively, that pipe in said casing being formed with. a stop collar, and a spring surrounding said last named pipe and engaging t 1e collar at one end and resting at its opposite end against the upper end of the casing to yieldably suspend said circulating device in said mounting.
