Description
Sept. 29, 1931. GURNSEY 1,825348 SANITARY MILK BOTTLE HOLDER F'iled March 6, 1929 Inventor H. Gurnsy By wal I A itorney Patented Sept. 29, 1931 UNITED STATES PATE SANITARY MILK Application filed March 6,
The present invention relates to a holder for milk bottles and the like and has for its prime object to provide a structure whereby a bottle may be supported in a suspended position with the top thereof protected from the elements, insects, dust and the like.
Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a sanitary bottle holder of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed. 7
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a vertical section through the device embodying the features of my invention,
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the holder comprises a cylindrical body 5 having a dome like top 6 on the upper edge thereof. The lower edge of the body 5 merges into an outwardly directed. annular flange 7 in turn merging at its outer edge to a downwardly extending annular flange 8 which in turn merges into an inwardly directed annular flange 9 the width of which is less than the flange 7.
A rubber disk 10 is mounted between a washer 11 resting on the flange 9 and the flange 7 and this rubber disk 10 is provided with a central opening 12 so that a milk bot tle or the like 1 1 may have its end inserted through the opening so that the usual bead 15 thereof will fit the opening as it is passed therethrough and then when the milk bottle is released said bead will rest on the disk 10 at BOTTLE HOLDER 1929. Serial No. 344,821.
the edge of the opening and the cap in the milk bottle is thoroughly protected from the elements, flies, dust and the like. This rubber disk 10, of course, must be sufliciently strong to support'the weight of the bottle but the size and material of this disk is not of the essence of invention, being variable according to circumstances.
I utilize especially constructed brackets so that this holder may be mounted on the side of a house or in any other desired place. This bracket comprises a U-shaped body portion 16 with ears 17 and 18 which may be nailed or otherwise fixed to the support while the bight of the U-shaped body is riveted or otherwise fixed as at 19 to the body 5 of the holder.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification, since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparentthat changes in the details of construction, in materials, in the sizes, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A bottle holder of the class described comprising a cylindrical body, a top over the body, the lower end of the body merging into an outwardly directed annular flange which in turn merges into a depending annular flange, the depending annular flange merging into an inwardly directed annular flange, an elastic disk having its outer periphery between the outwardly and inwardly directed flanges and provided with a central opening. 2. A bottle holder of the class described comprising a cylindrical body, a top over the body, the lower end of the body merging into an outwardly directed annular flange which in turn merges into a dependin annular flange, the depending annular flange merging into an inwardly directed annular 1 flange, an elastic disc having its outer periphery between the outwardly and inwardly directed flanges and provided with a central opening, a gasket interposed between the disk and the inwardly directed flange. I In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
HAROLD GURNSEY.
