This invention relates to a safety lock which according to the invention is provided with a'locking disk which bymeans of stop members prevents resetting of the tumblers 55 into their inoperative positions as long as the lockingdisk itself is notmoved out of its inoperative position in consequence of the displacement of a safety disk coupled with the saidlocking disk and movable by means of the key for the lock. Y Suitably the tumblers, in addition to the stop members of the locking disk, are secured in their operative positions in that they are caused to engage in recesses of the look by means of projecting arms with which preferably the stop members on the locking disk cooperate, whilst further securing of the lock may be afforded by a bolt engaging in a recess provided in the lock which bolt cooperates with the tumblers and is retracta ble by means of the key.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the casing of the lock with the cover 2 behind which the safety disk 3, the locking disk ieand a number of tumblers 5 are arranged which latter are disposed in a body member 6 the neck 7 of which is'connected to a locking bolt (not shown) and which is provided with a central guide pin 8 for the key 9 with a double bit.
, In the locked position of. the look a springpressed locking pin 10 (see-Figs. 5 and 6) arranged in the body member 6 engages in a recess formed .in the bottom of the easing 1 of thelock, whereby the inoperative position of the lock body 6 is defined.
In a recess formed in the lock drum 61a plate 11 shaped in the form of a tumbler is arranged which plate carries a locking stud 12 for the engagement of which in the'circumferential rims of the body member 6 and lock casing l recesses 13 and 141 respectively are provided. On the sup orting pin 15 fixed to the bottom of the body member 6 a hollow locking pin 16 is slid the rearward end of which carries a lateral arm 17 and which is influenced by a coil spring 18 abutting against the free end of the supporting pin l5 so as to move pin 16 in engagement with a recess of the safety disk 3 (Fig. 1).
On the locking pin 16 which projects through an opening 19 in the locking disk 4 the plate-shaped tumblers 5 are turnably mounted and for this'purpose each tumbler 5 is provided with a round hole 20 (Fig. 11) which intersects a curved slot 21. The slot 21 serves to allow the spreading apart of the tumbler 5 by means of the key 9 so that a recess 22provided in the circumferential por tion of the said tumbler is enlarged to such an extent as to be adaptedto receive the look ing stud 12 (Fig. 9). The slot 21 extends adjacent the periphery of tumbler 5, leaving a 'yieldable resilient strip of material between the slot and the periphery. Near its middle portion ,slot 21 intersects the'round hole 20, and this hole is connected with a cut out portion at the center portion of the tumbler disc. The recess 22 is located at the pe riphery'of the tumbler disc 5 at a point substantially opposite to slot 21, and recess 22 is connected with the centrally located cut out portion of tumbler disc 5 by an angularly ex tending slot. ZURICH, SWITZERLAND V 5 one part of the tumbler interlocking with the somewhat larger aperture in the opposing part of the tumbler. Each tumbler 5 has two projecting arms 24 for engaging in apertures 25 formed in the casing of the lock.
Two stop pins 26 fixed to the lockingjdisk 4 cooperate with the arms 24 of the tumblers cess formed in the front face of the circumferential rim of the body member 5 so as to be displaceably guided in the said body member. In the locked position of the. lock the locking bolt 16 engages in the safety disk 3 7 so as to firmly connect the same with the body member 6 which latter is held in its position in the lock casing by the locking pin 10. The locking stud 12 is entered in the recess 14 of the lock casing, as may be seen from Figs. 2 and 3,.while the stop pins 26 on the locking disk 4 bear on the arms-24 of the tumblers 5 and the one arm 24 ofeach tumbler engages in either one of the two apertures 25 of the lock casing; thereby, the stop pins 26 prevent the tumblers from turning. Thus the lock is secured by each tumbler against unauthorized opening of the same. In order to open the lock the key 9 is slid on the guide pin 8 to enterthe lock casing 1 to such a depth .as to push the arm 17 of the locking pin 16 back into a recess in the bottom of the body member 6 by means of the end face of the key-bit so that thelocking bolt 16 is displaced on the supporting pin 15 against the action of the spring 18 and thus moved out of engagement with the safety disk 3. Thereupon the key 9 is turned, whereby the latter by means of its bit moves the safety disk 3 and by means of the guide slot 28 and the pin 27 the locking 'disk 4 isdisplaced in its guideon' the body member 6, suchwise, that its stop pins 26 release the tumblers 5. The tumblers f) are-rotationally adjusted by the key-bit in such manner that their recesses 22 in their spread condition are moved opposite the locking stud 12, whereby at the same time the arms 24 of the tumblers 5 are retracted from the apertures 25 of the lock casing 1 (see Fig. 9). Thereupon the plate 11 is displaced by means of thekey-bit,
suchwise, that the locking stud 12 moves out of engagement with the recess 14 of the lock casing (see Figs. 9 and'10). V Subsequently, the released body member6 is turned together with the key in that the plate 11 bears in the direction of rotation by means of one of its two arms on the support- 6E ing pin 15 of the locking pin 16. In consequence of the turning of the body member 6 the locking bolt cooperating therewith is retracted. As the safety disk 3 turns together with the key it blocks the access to the. lock casing by way of the key hole so that inserting of foreign matter into the same (with the intention of impairing the operation of the lock) in the opened position of the lock is prevented. Acylinder lock, comprising in combination, a locking disk, stop members on the said locking disk, a pluralityof tumblers, the said stop members on the said locking disk engaging the said tumblers in the locked condition of the lock so as to prevent them from returning into their respective inoperative positions, as long as the said locking disk itself is not moved out of its locking position, a safety disk movable by means of the key for the lock, and locking means, the said locking means connecting thesaid locking disk and the said safety disk in the locking position of the said disks and adapted to be released by means of the key for the lock, whereupon the safety disk is turned and, consequently, the locking disk for the tumblers adapted to be reset into its inoperative position.
4. A cylinder lock, comprising in combination, a locking disk, stop members on the said locking'disk, a plurality of tumblers, the said stop members on the said locking disk engaging the said tumblers in the locked condition of the lock so as to prevent them from returning into their respective inoperative positions as long as the said locking disk itself isnot moved out of its locking position, a safety disk movable by means of the key for the lock, locking means, the said locking means connect-ing the said locking disk and the said safety disk in the locking position of the said disks and adapted to be released by means of the key for the lock, and a spring pressed pin arranged on the said locking means, suchwise, that when the said key is introduced into the lock the said pin is enabled to be pushed out of a recess formed in the safety disk, whereupon the safety disk is turned and consequently, the locking disk for the tumblers adapted to be reset into its inoperative position.
5. A cylinder lock, comprising in combina tion, a locking disk, stop members on the said locking disk, a plurality of tumblers, projecting arms provided on the said tumblers, apertures formed in the lock, the said stop members on the said locking disk engaging the said tumblers and the said projecting arms on the said tumblers engaging in the said apertures formed in the lock so as to secure the latter in its locked position, as long as the said locking disk is not moved out of its locking position, a locking stud, the said locking'stud being retractable by means of the key for the lock and cooperating with the said tumblers, a recess formed in the lock and adapted to receive the said locking stud for further securing the lock in the locked position as long as the said locking disk is not A moved out of its locking position and a safety disk movable by means of the key for the lock and coupled with the said locking disk so that when the said safety disk is displaced the said locking disk is moved out of its locking position so as to enable the said tumblers to return into their inoperative positions.
6. A cylinder lock, comprising in combination, a locking disk, stop members on the said locking disk, a plurality of tumblers, projecting arms provided on the said tumblers, the said stop members on the said locking disk cooperating with thesaid projecting arms provided on the said tumblers, apertures formed in the lock, the said stop members on the said locking disk engaging the said projecting arms on the said tumblers and the said projecting arms on the 7 said tumblers engaging in the said apertures formed in the lock so as to secure the latter in its locked position as long as the said locking disk is not moved out of its locking position, a locking stud, the said locking stud being retractable by means of the key for the lock and cooperating with the said tumblers, a recess formed in the lock and adapted to receive the said locking stud for further securing the lock in the locked position as long as the said locking disk is not moved out of its locking position, and a safety disk movable by means of the key for the lock and coupled with the said locking disk so that when the said safety disk is displaced the said locking disk is moved out of its looking position so as to enable the said tumblers to return into their inoperative positions.
