MUNK, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA GLOVE j f ityV at intersection of fingersand palm as also at intersection of palm and wrist, and it is also customary to have an outseam or overlap M at the intersection of palm and' gauntlet. 10 This overlap or outseam usually wears away quickly, resulting in premature discard of the glove. The joint between palm and gauntlet isalso formed with stiffening material tacked into the seam resulting in a sharp "'15 creasing joint which proves uncomfortable. The joint between fingers land palm is also customarily provided with'seams, providing ya bulky, stiff and uncomfortable bend when the fingers are retracted. yThe usual method of forming `the thumb does not provide a yform fitting thumb, thereby usually requiring separate meansapplied about the wrist to retain the glove on the hand.
It is for the purpose of doing away with these objectionable features that this invention is evolved.v e .i The main object of theinventionis to provide a workmans glove with double palm and eXible palm-finger joint.
Another object of the invention is to provide a glove as outlined having a form fitting thumb; Y
A further obj ect of the invention is to avoid seams or bulges at intersectionV of palm and gauntlet and terminate the gauntlet stiffening material at a point backward of the wrist joint so as to provide alleXible bend section at the wrist. y Y Y ,A still `further object of the invention is to provide a double palm, gauntlet glove which will be self retaining on the hand and provide a full measure of comfort and convenience at the wrist joint and atthe palm-finger joints.
VOther, objects and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent from the drawings and the description as set forth.
Referring to the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 is a plan view of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view indicating the lap between the middle and third fingers;
Application led March 11, 1930. Serial No. 434,936.

Similar reference characters are used to designate similar parts throughout the several views.
The invention consists of the ordinary four finger and thumb gauntlet glove with double palm, but provided with a form fitting thumb, the palm section overlapping the gauntlet, and the palm-finger seam being dist, posed away from the natural bend point 0F05 the fingers, and having a flap carried beyond the palm and between the middle and third fingers, and terminating the stiffening materialin the gauntlet on the palm side ata.. point back of the natural wrist bend. Y "l0 The glove is formed with the usual back and palm with the usual patterns and stitching, and the fingers have an additional thickness of material 11 on the palm side and pro.- vided with the welts 10. The parts so far""15 enumerated are not a part of the invention, which comprises the palm, Fig. 5, thumb, Fig. '6, andinside half of gauntlet, Figs. 3 anc 4.
The thumb is made to a special pattern,
which, when sewed into the glove providesa form fit' from the thumb joint to the wrist. The palm is ymade to a special pattern indicated in Fig. y5, the palm side ofthe index and little lingers being formed from the eX- 85 tensions 12 Vand 13, the lap 14 extending around theside of the index nger and providing reenforcement ragainst wear at this point. The extension 15 extends back of the thumb toward the wrist, the edge 16 being90 sewed to the edge 17 of the thumb and the edgeL 18 overlapping the curved portion 19 of the thumb, the inner face of the thumb being attached at 20. The lap 21 is tucked under the edge of the gauntlet, and together sewed over the edge 22 of the thumb. The flap 23 extends beyond the wrist line indicated at 24, forming a continuous surface eX- tended onto the gauntlet. tucked under the gauntlet which is received '99 The `flap 25 is in the vslit' 26. Flap 27 Ais partly cut from the lingers 12 and 13, the sides 28 and 29l folding inwardly about the sides of the index and little fingers, and the flap 30 being drawn between the middle and third lingers and tacked into the rear seam at the end 31. The transverse seams 32 are spaced from the palmfinger joint, providing flaps 33 and 34:, thus preventing the gathering of the material at the joint when the fingers are bent inward,y the seam being Aplaced onV a line connectingYY the ends of the slits atY 35, and functioningl to attach the upper portion of the outer palm r to the inner palm. Thewrist flap 23 is sewed to the gauntlet at 24 andv 36, obviating theA Y ,usual connecting seamor tuck at 24, and providing a smooth unbroken surface across the wrist portion. j l i The gai/intlet is formed of the stiflening signatures. Havingdescribed an operable method ofV VAconstructing the glove, it will be understood thatininor variations in design and arrange- I adapted to fit'the contour of thel hand from the thumb joint to the wrist, a gauntlet, the
ment which are consistent with the appended Yclaims may be resorted to without `detracting V,from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.v I
We are aware that gauntlet gloves have #been made with a double palm, therefore we do not claim such` a combination broadly, but
we do claim 1. A double palm gauntlet glove provided Vwith a palm with integral index and little finger, an integral flap between said index and little fingers, aflap projecting from and `rintegralwith said integral flap, said iap beingtackedto the back finger-seam, a thumb palm side 'of which has stiliening material with a cut away portion adjacent the wrist and replaced by a iexible material, said' palm wrist.
