EUGENE ALLEN PAR-KER AND ROY CUTSINGER, OF 1V[ORR-ILTON, ARKANSAS NoNsINKABnn emit Application filed March 23, 1931. Serial No. 524,714.
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in boats and more particularly to a boat of the non-sinkable type, particularly adapted for use in fishing and hunting.
An important object of the invention is to provide a non-sinkable skid providing a combination for caught fish and game, and also affording convenience and safety in use.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a top plan view of the boat in its entirety.
Fig. 2 represents a side elevational View of the boat in its entirety.
Fig. 3 represents a top plan view of the boat with the cover board removed, along with the game compartment closures, and
further showing the tops of the air compartments broken away.
Fig. 4 represents a longitudinal sectional view taken substantially on the line 4- 4 of 2 Fig. 3. v
Fig. 5 represents a side elevational view of the cover board and flooring support.
Fig. 6' represents a transverse sectional view through the boat.
Fig. 7 represents .an enlarged fragmentary detailed sectional View through one of the game compartments.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the boat construction includes the bottom 5 upon which forward and rearward groups of air chambers are formed by the transversely and longitudinally extending partitions 6 and 7 respectively. The forward compartments are covered by the plate 8, while the rearward compartments are covered by the plate 9, and is apparent in Fig. 2, the side walls 10 extend entirely around the boat, and is so constructed .as to provide auxiliary air chambers 11 and at opposite sides of the rearward air compartments.
Additional air compartments 1212 are provided adjacent the intermediate portions of the boat and between these compartments 1111111615 for hingedly supportingthe closure 12-12 andthecompartmentsll+ll are the containers 13 having openings 14 in the bottom thereof.
Above one of'these containers 13 is the 16' which'is provided with a handle 17. The otliencontainer 13 has a framelS arranged above the same, for supportingthe hinge pin 19 which 'swingably supports the pair of 010- sures 2020.
- It will be observed, that the plate 8 as well as the bottom 5 of the boat construction tapers forwardly so that the front end of the boat is pointed.
Referring now to Figs. 6 and 7, it can be seen that mesh baskets 21 can be disposed unto the compartments 13 and furthermore, suitable fastening means 22 can be provided on the closures 20 and 16. i l V I Disposed over the forward aircompartments and extending rearwardly over the rearward air compartments, is the top cover board 23 provided with the substantially ovate-shaped-opening 24.- at theintermediate portion thereof. This board 23 is secured to the plates 8 and 9'by bolts 25.
Depending from the board 28 into the compartments 25 between the forward and rearward air compartments, are the U-shaped I saddles 26-26 for supporting the slats 27 making up a flooring for supporting the occupants.
Obviously, the occupants can sit upon the board 23 with their feet resting upon the slats 27, and a substantial number of the compartments of the forward and rearward groups must be punctured before the boat will tend to sink.
Vhile theforegoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new is 1. A boat of the character described comprising a bottom,a top, a side wall, an occupant compartment, air compartments for- Wardly and rearwardly of the occupant compartment, and a pair of air compartments at each side of the boat and a utility receptacle between the pair of air compartments at each side of the boat.
2. A boat of the character described comprising a bottom, a top, a side wall, an occupant compartment, air compartments forwardly and rearwardly of the occupant compartment, a pair of air compartments at each side of the boat and a utility receptacle between the pair of air compartments at each side of the boat, and the bottoms of the said receptacles being perforated and mesh baskets for disposition within the said receptacles.
3. A boat of the character described comprising a plurality of air compartments arranged in forwardly and rearwardly spaced relation to provide an occupant compartment, a cover board for the tops ofthe compartments and provided with an opening registering with the occupant compartment, and a platform depending from the cover board into the said occupant compartment.
4. A boat of the character described comprising forward and rearward air compartments arranged in spaced relation to provide an occupants compartment, a cover board for disposition over the air compartments, said cover board being provided with an opening therein registering with the occupant compartment, hangers depending from the said cover board into the occupant compartment, and a platform in the occupant compartment supported by the said hangers.
In testimony whereof we aflix our signa tures.
EUGENE ALLEN PARKER. ROY CUTSINGER.
